تُوُفِّيَ حُبَيْبُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بِأَرْمِينِيَّةَ سَنَةَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ

أخبرني عبد الله بن غانِم، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن إبراهيم العَبْدي، حَدَّثَنَا يحيى بن بُكَير، قال: تُوفّي حَبيب بن مَسلَمة بإرمِينِيَةَ سنة اثنتين وأربعين وهو ابن خمسين سنةً (3).
Yahya bin Bukayr states that Habib bin Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in Armenia in the year forty-two (42) AH, and at that time he was fifty years old.

(3) وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (3517) عن أبي الزِّنْباع روح بن الفرج، عن يحيى بن بُكَير. لكن دون ذكر مكان وفاة حبيب بن مسلمة. ووفاته بإرمينية متفق عليها كما في "تاريخ دمشق" 68 - 81. وأما سنة وفاته فمختلف فيها، فقد ذهب الهيثم بن عدي والمدائني إلى أنه توفي سنة إحدى وأربعين، وجُمهورهم على مثلِ قول ابن بُكَير.
Details of the narration: (3) It was recorded by al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (3517) from Abu al-Zinba' Rawh bin al-Faraj, from Yahya bin Bukayr, but without mention of the place of death of Habib bin Maslamah.
Note / Clarification: That he died in Armenia is agreed upon, as in "Tarikh Dimashq" (68-81). As for the year of his death, there is disagreement: al-Haytham bin 'Adi and al-Mada'ini held that he died in the year 41 AH, while the majority hold the same view as Ibn Bukayr.
