Explanation & Benefits

Grading: (2) Its chain is "jayyid" (good), on account of Ibn Abi Dhubab (whose name is al-Harith bin 'Abd al-Rahman); he is "saduq" (truthful) and there is no harm in him.
Details of the narration: Earlier, within a lengthy hadith at number (1714), the description of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) has passed, that he was "of tawny complexion and bore the look of the desert folk"; that narration passed by way of Safwan bin 'Isa, from al-Harith bin 'Abd al-Rahman.
Important point: That Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was "light of flesh" (khafif al-lahm) is established from Qays bin Abi Hazim.
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd (3/ 145), al-Baladhuri in "Ansab al-Ashraf" (11/ 222) and Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (33/ 65).
Details of the narration: Qays said: "I saw 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud; he was a man light of flesh."
