Ibrahim narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was very refined in temperament and extremely intelligent and perceptive. His mother was Umm Abd bint Abd bin al-Harith bin Zuhrah, and it is also said that she was from the tribe of al-Qarah.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (4) There is no harm in its men (narrators). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibrahim in the chain is "Ibn Yazid al-Nakha'i", and al-A'mash is "Sulayman bin Mihran". Reference / Source: Salih bin Ahmad bin Hanbal narrated it from his father (Imam Ahmad) in "al-Masa'il" (1229), but without mention of the mother of 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (Umm 'Abdullah). Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Khaythamah Zuhayr bin Harb in "Kitab al-'Ilm" (47), from him by Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (1413), and by way of him by Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (33/ 66). Al-Baghawi also narrated it in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (1413), and by way of him Ibn 'Asakir (33/ 66), from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar bin Muhammad bin Aban. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Both of these narrators (Abu Khaythamah and 'Abdullah bin 'Umar) narrate it from Yahya bin al-Yaman with this chain, and neither of them (like the previous narration) mentioned Umm 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud.
