Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Reference / Source: (1) It is in "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (5/ 41), narrated from Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi, but he said: "From Abd al-Rahman bin Abi al-Zinad and others, who said" (and then he mentioned it). Reference / Source: Al-Waqidi narrated with chains from more than one narrator (as in "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" 5/ 41, 42) that Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) died in "Hims". Important point: Al-Baladhuri, in "Futuh al-Buldan" (p. 173), after narrating this statement of al-Waqidi (via Muhammad bin Sa'd, from him), said: "Some claim that he died in Madinah, but his death in Hims is more firmly established." Important point: A group agreed with al-Waqidi in mentioning that Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) died in Hims. Among them are Abu Ubayd al-Qasim bin Sallam, Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr (in the narration of al-Hadrami from him), Ibrahim bin al-Mundhir al-Hizami and a group of others mentioned by Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (16/ 220-223, 237, 271, 280-282) and Ibn al-Adim in "Tarikh Halab" (7/ 3133-3136, 3148, 3164-3165, 3171-3172). The same will also come from Khalifah bin Khayyat with the author (al-Hakim) at number (5386). Al-Dhahabi said in "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" (1/ 384): "The correct view is that he died in Hims."
