أخبرنا أبو إسحاق، أخبرنا الثَّقفي، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن سعيد، حدثنا يعقوب، عن أبيه، عن ابن إسحاق، قال بلال بن رَباح أمُّه حَمَامة، وأختُه غُفْرة، الذي يقال: عمر بن عبد الله المدني مولى غُفْرة (5).
Ibn Ishaq said: The name of the mother of Bilal bin Rabah was Hamamah, and the name of his sister was Ghufrah, in relation to whom Umar bin Abdullah al-Madani is called "Mawla Ghufrah" (the freed slave of Ghufrah).

(5) قد جزم أكثرُ من ترجم لعمر بن عبد الله المذكور بأنه مولى غفرة بنت رباح أخت بلال، هكذا نصّوا بأنها أخت، بلال موافقين بذلك قولَ ابن إسحاق.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (5) Most of those who wrote biographies of the 'Umar bin 'Abd Allah mentioned here have stated definitively that he was the freed slave (mawla) of "Ghufrah bint Rabah", the sister of Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). They stated explicitly in this way that she was Bilal's sister, agreeing in this with the statement of Ibn Ishaq.
يعقوب: هو ابن إبراهيم بن سعد بن إبراهيم بن عبد الرحمن بن عوف.
Note / Clarification: "Ya'qub" refers to Ya'qub bin Ibrahim bin Sa'd bin Ibrahim bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf.
