أخبرني أبو العباس محمد بن أحمد المَحبُوبي بمَرُو، حدثنا أحمد بن سَيَّار، حدثنا عبد الله بن عثمان بن جَبَلة، حدثني أبي، أخبرنا شُعبة، عن سِماك بن حرب، قال: كنا مع مُدرِك بن المُهلَّب بسِجِستانَ في سُرادِقِه، فسمعتُ شيخًا يُحدِّث عن أبي سفيان بن الحارث بن عبد المُطَّلب، عن النبي ﷺ قال: "إنَّ الله لا يُقدِّسُ أمةً لا يأخُذُ الضعيفُ حقَّه من القويِّ وهو غيرُ مُتَعْتَعٍ" (2). فإذا الشيخُ الذي لم يُسمِّه عثمان بن جَبَلة عن شعبة عن سماك، قد سمّاهُ عُندَرٌ، غيرَ أنه لم يَذكُر أبا سفيان في الإسناد.
Simak bin Harb said: We were in the tent of Mudrik bin al-Muhallab in Sijistan, and there I heard an elderly man narrating from Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan bin al-Harith bin Abd al-Muttalib from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah does not declare pure (or sanctify) a people among whom the weak cannot take his right from the strong without faltering and fear." So the elderly man whom Uthman bin Jabalah did not name in his narration has been explicitly named (Abdullah bin Abi Sufyan) by Ghundar, but he did not mention Abu Sufyan in this chain.

(2) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد رجاله لا بأس بهم لولا هذا الشيخ المبهم الذي لم يُسَمَّ.
Grading: (2) This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and there is "no harm" in the narrators of this chain, were it not for this unnamed shaykh who is not named.
وقد تقدَّم عند المصنف برقم (5194) من طريق أبي المُوجِّه عن عبد الله بن عثمان بن جَبَلة، وهو المعروف بعَبْدان.
Note / Clarification: This has already appeared with the author (al-Hakim) at no. (5194) via Abu al-Muwajjih from 'Abdullah bin 'Uthman bin Jabalah (who is known as 'Abdan).
وأخرجه البيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 10/ 93 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" [10/93] from Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim with this same chain.
وأخرجه ابن قانع في "المعجم الصحابة" 3/ 88 عن معاذ بن المثنَّى، والخطيب البغدادي في "تاريخ بغداد" 5/ 306 من طريق يحيى بن محمد بن صاعد، كلاهما عن أحمد بن سيّار، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Qani' recorded it in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" [3/88] from Mu'adh bin al-Muthanna, and al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "Tarikh Baghdad" [5/306] via Yahya bin Muhammad bin Sa'id. Both of them narrate it from Ahmad bin Sayyar with this same chain.
والسُّرادِقُ: هو كلُّ ما أحاط بشيءٍ، نحو الخِباء.
Note / Clarification: "Al-suradiq": anything that surrounds something, such as a tent or canopy.
وقوله: "إنَّ الله لا يُقدِّس أُمَّةٌ" معناه: لا يُطهِّرها ولا يُزكِّيها.
Note / Clarification: The meaning of his (peace and blessings be upon him) words "إنَّ الله لا يُقدِّس أُمَّةٌ" is: Allah does not purify that nation nor cleanse it.
