Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5113

Muhammad bin Umar narrates from his teachers that Dirar bin al-Azwar, the poet, whose father al-Azwar's name was Malik bin Aws, was a renowned horseman and poet. He took part in the Battle of Yamamah and fought so fiercely that both his shins were cut off. He kept fighting, bending on his knees, while the horses trampled him, until death overcame him.

Correction of the text: In our manuscripts this name was distorted into "Khuzaymah" (with za'), whereas (the correct form is with dhal); see the nisbah (al-Jadhami) in Abu al-Hasan 'Izz al-Din bin al-Athir's "al-Lubab fi Tahdhib al-Ansab".
