Muhammad bin Umar relates that the kunyah of Sayyiduna Abbad bin Bishr bin Waqsh (may Allah be pleased with him) was Abu Bishr, while according to Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Umarah his kunyah was Abu al-Rabi'. He accepted Islam in Madinah at the hands of Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him), and this was before Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam. Sayyiduna Abbad bin Bishr (may Allah be pleased with him) took part in the Battle of Badr and was among those who killed Ka'b bin al-Ashraf. He took part in Uhud, al-Khandaq and all the battles with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He was also present at the Battle of Yamamah, where he displayed great courage and bravery in the fighting, until he was martyred on that very day. His martyrdom was in the year 12 AH, and at that time he was forty-five years old.
