It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) carrying Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Allahumma inni uhibbuhu fa-ahibbahu (O Allah, I love him, so love him too)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, and the two Shaykhs did not record it. A similar narration has also been reported concerning Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), and both (narrations) are preserved (mahfuz).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading of the chain: This chain is "qawi" (strong) because of Abu al-Jahhaf (Dawud bin Abi 'Awf). 'Abdullah bin al-Walid is "al-'Adani", Sufyan is "al-Thawri" and Abu Hazim is "Salman al-Ashja'i". Reference / Difference in the text: It is in "Musnad Ahmad" (15/ 9759), but there it mentions both al-Hasan and al-Husayn, in these words: "O Allah, I love them both, so love them both." It appears that al-Hakim cited it in the wording of "al-'Adani". Reference: These words have also passed at number (4833) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah: "Whoever loves them both has loved me, and whoever hates them both has hated me."
(4847). Reference: This has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) at number (4847).
