It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Lord has promised me concerning my Ahl al-Bayt that whoever of them affirms Tawhid (the Oneness of Allah) and affirms my conveying (of the message), He will not punish them." Umar bin Sa'id al-Abahh says: Sa'id bin Abi Arubah died on a Thursday. He had narrated this hadith on a Friday in the mosque, and he died seven days after that. Some people said: "May Allah not reward you with good; (he is) a man of Rafd (Rafidism) and trouble." And some people said: "May Allah reward you with good; (he is) a man of the Sunnah and the Jama'ah; you have conveyed what you heard."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "very weak" (da'if jiddan) because of 'Umar bin Sa'id al-Abahh. Imam al-Bukhari said about him: "Munkar al-hadith." Abu Hatim said: "He is not strong." Ibn Hibban said in "al-Majruhin" (2/ 87): "In my view, what he narrates alone cannot be used as proof." He narrated a whole written collection (nuskhah) from Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah, from Anas, in which he was not corroborated. Reference / Source: Ibn 'Adi recorded it in "al-Kamil" (5/ 48) and Abu Tahir al-Dhahabi in "al-Mukhallisiyyat" (1598) via al-Khalil bin 'Umar al-'Abdi, from 'Umar bin Sa'id al-Abahh, with this chain, in brief, with the wording: "My Lord has made me a promise concerning those of my household (Ahl al-Bayt) who affirm tawhid." Ibn 'Adi said: his words "fi ahli bayti" (concerning my household) - this text is "munkar" with this chain.
Note / Clarification: The phrase "La jazaka Allahu khayran, sahibu rafdin wa bala'" (May Allah not reward you with good, a man of Rafidism and affliction) did not appear in manuscripts (S), (M) and ('A); we have established it from manuscripts (Z) and (B). However, in those two, the word "rafd" was written as "rahd" (with the letter ha' instead of fa'), which makes no sense here, so we retained the word of the printed edition (rafd), and its meaning is: "a person inclined to the Rafidi school".
