Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "weak". Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because of Abu Rabi'ah al-Iyadi ('Umar bin Rabi'ah), whose hadith is accepted only for corroboration (i'tibar). This hadith of his is also narrated from Anas through another route, but it is not authentic, as will come. Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (3797) recorded it by way of Waki' bin al-Jarrah, from al-Hasan bin Salih bin Hayy, with this chain, and said: "A hasan gharib hadith." Reference / Source: It has another route from Anas in Bahshal's "Tarikh Wasit" (p. 69), al-Tabarani's "al-Kabir" (6045), Abu Nu'aym's "al-Hilyah" (1/ 142, 190), "Sifat al-Jannah" (84) and "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (3346), Ibn 'Asakir (60/ 176) and others, through two routes from 'Imran bin Wahb al-Ta'i, from Anas. But in this narration he said: "to four", adding al-Miqdad with them, while Bahshal mentioned Bilal in his place. Technical note / Defect ('illah): This 'Imran al-Ta'i was mentioned by Ibn Abi Hatim in "al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil" (6/ 306), who quoted his father as saying about him: "da'if al-hadith (weak in hadith); he narrated from Anas mu'dal hadiths (with gaps in the chain) resembling the hadiths of Aban bin Abi 'Ayyash, and I do not think he heard anything from Anas."
