أَظْلَمَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَوْمَ وَفَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ 4445 - أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ، ثَنَا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ الرَّازِيُّ ، ثَنَا أَبُو ظَفَرٍ ، ثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : " لَمَّا كَانَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَظْلَمَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ " .
Everything in Madinah grew dark on the day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) died

حدَّثنا علي بن حَمْشاذَ العَدْل، حدَّثنا هِشام بن علي، حدَّثنا محمد بن عبد الله الخُزاعي، حدَّثنا حمّاد بن سَلَمة، عن ثابت، عن أنس، قال: شهدتُ اليومَ الذي تُوفّي فيه رسولُ الله ﷺ، فلم أرَ يومًا كان أقبحَ منه (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was present on the day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, and I never saw a more painful and sorrowful day than it.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Abd Allah al-Khuza'i: he is Ibn Uthman al-Basri.
وأخرجه أحمد 19/ (12234) و 21 / (13522) و (14063) من طرق عن حماد بن سلمة به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad 19/ (12234) and 21/ (13522, 14063) narrated it by way of Hammad bin Salamah, with this same chain.
