Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4164

It is narrated from Ka'b (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "Then came the Prophet of Allah Ilyas (peace be upon him), who lived in the mountains and the wilderness, where he would worship his Lord in seclusion. His head was large, his belly lean and his shins slender, and there was a red mole on his chest. Indeed Allah Almighty raised him to the land of Syria (al-Sham), and he was not raised up to the heavens, so he made al-Yasa' (peace be upon him) the heir of prophethood after him."
An account of the Prophet of Allah Yunus bin Matta (may the blessings of Allah be upon him), and he is the one whom Allah Almighty named Dhu al-Nun

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The text established from (B), a variant noted in the margin of (Z), the printed edition, and al-Suyuti's "al-Durr al-Manthur" 7/ 118 is correct, whereas in (Z), (S) and ('A) the words are "rafa'ahu Allahu bi-ardi al-Sham" (Allah raised him in the land of Syria); but what we have established is more sound and clearer.

Grading: Its chain is very weak (da'if jiddan), and discussion of its narrators has already passed under no. (4059).
