حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا العبّاس بن محمد الدُّوري، حدثنا يحيى بن مَعِين، حدثنا يحيى بن آدم، حدثنا حمزة الزَّيَّات، عن أبي إسحاق، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبّاس، عن أبيّ بن كَعْبٍ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "رحمةُ الله علينا وعلى موسى - فبدأ بنفسه - لو كان صَبَرَ لَقُصَّ علينا مِن خَبَرِه، ولكن قال: ﴿إِنْ سَأَلْتُكَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدَهَا فَلَا تُصَاحِبْنِي قَدْ بَلَغْتَ مِنْ لَدُنِّي عُذْرًا﴾ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty have mercy on us and on Musa. (He, peace and blessings be upon him, began the supplication with himself.) Had he been patient, (more of) his news (circumstances) would have been related to us, but he had said: 'If I ask you about anything after this, then do not keep me in your company; you have surely received from me (a final) excuse.' [Surah al-Kahf: 76]"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو إسحاق: هو عمرو بن عبد الله السَّبِيعي، وحمزة الزيّات: هو ابن حبيب أحد القراء السبعة المشهورين.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (Identification of narrators): Abu Ishaq is Amr bin Abd Allah al-Sabi'i, and Hamzah al-Zayyat is Ibn Habib, one of the famous seven Qur'an reciters.
وأخرجه أحمد 35/ (21126) و (21127)، وأبو داود (3984)، والترمذي (3385)، والنسائي (11248)، وابن حبان (988) من طرق عن حمزة الزيات، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad 35/ (21126) and (21127), Abu Dawud (3984), al-Tirmidhi (3385), al-Nasa'i (11248), and Ibn Hibban (988) through various routes from Hamzah al-Zayyat, with this chain.
وأخرجه مسلم (2380)، والنسائي (11244) من طريق رقبة بن مصقلة، والنسائي (5813) من طريق إسرائيل، كلاهما عن أبي إسحاق، به.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Muslim (2380) and al-Nasa'i (11244) via Raqabah bin Masqalah, and by al-Nasa'i (5813) via Isra'il, both of them from Abu Ishaq, with it.
وسلف نحوه برقم (3476) من طريق أبي بشر عن سعيد بن جُبَير.
Details of the narration: Something similar has already passed under no. (3476) via Abu Bishr from Sa'id bin Jubayr.
