It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Learn Surah al-Baqarah and Surah Al Imran, for they are the two radiant ones; on the Day of Resurrection they will shade the one who recites them as though they were two clouds, or two canopies, or two flocks of birds with outspread wings."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: It is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic through other chains), but with the wording "tuhajjan" (they will argue / plead) instead of "tuzillan" (they will give shade). This chain is hasan in corroborating chains and supporting reports because of Bashir bin al-Muhajir. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it through the chain of Abu Nu'aym al-Fadl bin Dukayn. Reference / Source: Also, Waki' narrated it by way of Bashir bin Muhajir with the wording "tuhajjan" or "tujadilan". Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih Muslim, which has the word "tuhajjan", is a supporting report for it; it will come later at number (2096). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of al-Nawwas bin Sam'an (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih Muslim is also a supporting report for it. Note / Clarification: "Ghayayah" is anything that gives shade over the head, such as a cloud and the like. Note / Clarification: "Firqan min tayr" means two flocks or groups of birds. Note / Clarification: "Sawaff" means arranged in rows, or joined to one another. Note / Clarification: "Zahrawan" is the dual of "zahra'", meaning radiant and shining. These surahs (al-Baqarah and Al 'Imran) were given this name because of their light and their great reward.
