It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do the enduring good deeds (al-baqiyat al-salihat) in abundance." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! What are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These words of the Islamic Millah." It was asked: What are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Declaring the greatness of Allah (takbir), affirming His oneness (tahlil), declaring His glory (tasbih), praising Him (tahmid), and saying 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no strength nor power except with Allah)."
This is the most authentic chain of the Egyptian narrators, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: It is "hasan li-ghayrihi" on the basis of supporting reports. Although this chain is weak on account of Abu al-Samh (Darraj bin Sam'an), according to al-Hafiz al-Ala'i it becomes sahih through other supporting reports. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad 18/ (11713) with the chain Ibn Lahi'ah from Darraj Abu al-Samh. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Its supporting report is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (2008), whose narrators are thiqah but which has a technical "'illah" (defect). 222. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of al-Nu'man bin Bashir (Ahmad: 18353) has an unnamed narrator; otherwise it would be on the condition of Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim. Grading: The statement of Uthman bin Affan (Ahmad: 513) is reported with a hasan chain, and it is something that cannot be said merely from opinion (so it has the ruling of marfu'). Grading: In most narrations from Ibn Abbas it is his own statement (mawquf), and according to al-Ala'i this is the more correct. Grading: Al-Tabari (15/ 255) reported it as the statement of Ibn Umar, and its narrators are thiqah. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabari also narrated it (as a statement) from Ata', Sa'id bin al-Musayyib, Salim, Mujahid, Muhammad bin Ka'b, al-Hasan and Qatadah.
(3636). Technical note: The author (al-Hakim) here called Darraj's narration the most solid, whereas in another book of his he had already called the chain of al-Layth bin Sa'd the most sound. According to the hadith scholars, Darraj's narration from Abu al-Haytham is considered weak.
