Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1760M

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on that day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed goats among his Companions, and a ram fell to the share of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), which he sacrificed on his own behalf. Then when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at Arafah, he ordered Rabi'ah bin Umayyah bin Khalaf to stand by the chest of his she-camel. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Call out: O people, do you know which month this is?" The people said: The sacred month. He said: "Do you know which city this is?" The people said: The sacred city. Then he said: "Do you know which day this is?" The people said: The day of the Greater Hajj. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has made your blood and your wealth inviolable to you, just like the sanctity of this month of yours, this city of yours and this day of yours." Thus the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) completed his Hajj, and when standing at Arafah he said: "This is the place of standing, and the whole of Arafah is a place of standing." And when he stood at Quzah in Muzdalifah, he said: "This is the place of standing, and the whole of Muzdalifah is a place of standing."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. It contains wording from the long hadith narrated by Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), and many additional words as well.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: This is connected through the previous chain.

Grading: The hadith is sahih and the chain is "hasan".
Reference / Source: Ibn Khuzaymah narrated it through the route of Ahmad bin al-Miqdam from Wahb bin Jarir.
Reference / Source: Al-Baghawi and al-Tabarani (11399) narrated it through the route of Wahb bin Abi Najih. In al-Baghawi's copy the name of 'Abdullah bin Abi Najih is missing; this may be a printing error.
Defect / Technical note: The narration of Ibn Jurayj from 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) is munqati' (broken), because Ibn Jurayj did not meet Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
Note / Clarification: In "Musnad Ahmad" we had, by oversight, declared it sahih according to al-Bukhari's condition; this is corrected here.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The saying "This is a place of standing, and all of 'Arafah is a place of standing" is narrated through various routes from the musnad of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) in Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Muslim and others.
