It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kissed Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) after he had died, while he (the Prophet) was weeping (in grief). The narrator said: tears were flowing from his blessed eyes.
This hadith is widely circulated and accepted among the Imams, but the two Shaykhs did not use Asim bin Ubaydullah as evidence, while its well-known authentic supporting narration (shahid) is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah and Sayyidah Aishah, that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) kissed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) after he had passed away.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) The chain is da'if (weak) because of the weakness of 'Asim bin Ubaydullah, but on the basis of supporting reports it is fit to be graded "hasan". Reference / Source: It is in the Musnad of Ahmad (42/25712) via Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi. Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (989) narrated it and declared it "hasan sahih". Reference / Source: Ahmad, Abu Dawud (3163) and Ibn Majah (1456) narrated it through routes from Sufyan al-Thawri. Repetition: The mention of his kissing Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) will come later at number (4929). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported by the narration of Aisha bint Qudamah, which is in al-Tabarani, although there is some weakness in it. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A shahid (supporting report) for his (peace and blessings be upon him) weeping over him is the narration of Ibn Abbas in al-Tabarani (10826) and Abu Nu'aym; its narrators are trustworthy. Reference / Source: Abu Bakr's (may Allah be pleased with him) kissing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) after his death is authentically established, as the author (al-Hakim) will point out.
(3029). Reference / Source: (2) The narration of Ibn Abbas and Aisha (may Allah be pleased with them) is in al-Bukhari (4455), Ibn Majah and al-Nasa'i. Grading: The narration of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Tayalisi is weak because of the weakness of Salih bin Abi al-Akhdar.
