حدثنا أبو بكر أحمد بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا علي بن الحَسَن بن بَيَان، حدثنا عبد الله بن رَجَاء، أخبرنا حرب بن شَدَّاد، أخبرنا يحيى بن أبي كَثِير، حدثني عِيَاض قال: سألتُ أبا سعيد الخُدْري فقلت: أحدُنا يصلي فلا يدري كم صلى، قال: قال لنا رسول الله ﷺ: "إذا صلَّى أحدكم فلم يَدْرِ كم صلَّى، فليسجد سجدتين، وإذا جاء أحدَكُم الشيطانُ فقال: إنك قد أحدثْتَ، فليقل: كذبتَ، إلّا ما وَجَدَ رِيحًا بأنفه، أو سَمِع صوتًا بأُذنِه" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

Iyad narrates that he asked Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): "One of us prays and does not remember how many rak'ahs he has prayed." He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "When one of you prays and does not remember how many rak'ahs he has prayed, let him perform two prostrations (of forgetfulness). And when Satan comes to one of you and says: 'You have broken your ablution,' let him say (in his heart): 'Kadhabta' (You have lied), unless he perceives a smell with his nose or hears a sound with his ear."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لجهالة عياض: وهو ابن هلال. عبد الله بن رجاء: هو الغُداني.
Grading: (2) It is "sahih li-ghayrihi"; this chain is da'if because 'Iyad bin Hilal is unknown (majhul). 'Abdullah bin Raja' refers to al-Ghudani.
وأخرجه مختصرًا دون قصة الحدث ابن ماجه (1204)، والترمذي (396)، والنسائي (590) من طريق هشام الدستوائي، والنسائي (591) من طريق شيبان النحوي، كلاهما عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (1204), al-Tirmidhi (396) and al-Nasa'i narrated it in abridged form through the chains of Hisham al-Dastuwa'i and Shayban al-Nahwi by way of Yahya bin Abi Kathir.
وهو مكرر الحديث برقم (469) غير أنَّ شيخ الحاكم هناك هو دعلج السِّجْزي.
Repetition: It is a repetition of number (469), except that there al-Hakim's shaykh is Da'laj al-Sijzi.
وسلف من طريق عطاء بن يسار عن أبي سعيد الخدري في قصة الشك في الصلاة برقم (1217).
Technical note: The narration of 'Ata' bin Yasar from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, with the story of doubt (in prayer), has passed at number (1217).
