Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1012

Amir bin Sa'd narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered placing both hands (on the ground) and keeping both feet upright (on the toes) in prayer.
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it, and this hadith is also established as sahih on Imam Muslim's condition with clearer wording than this:

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) It is "sahih li-ghayrihi", but the preferred view is that it is the "mursal" narration of Amir bin Sa'd from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as al-Tirmidhi and Abu Hatim said.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (277) narrated it via the chain of Mu'alla bin Asad from Ibn Ajlan.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Tirmidhi narrated it again (278) as "mursal" and judged that to be more sahih, and said that the people of knowledge are agreed upon it: that in prostration the hands are placed on the ground and the feet are kept upright.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi on the description of the prayer in al-Bukhari (828) is a supporting report for it: in prostration he (peace and blessings be upon him) would place his hands and point his toes towards the qiblah.
