1433 - وَأَنَاهُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ النَّحَّاسِ، نا ابْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ هُوَ ابْنُ فَهْدٍ، نا مُسْلِمٌ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَذَكَرَهُ وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَدِيثٍ طَوِيلٍ، وَفِيهِ: " وَاللَّهِ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا وَلَضَحِكْتُمْ كَثِيرًا. . الْحَدِيثَ
1433 - And narrated by Abu Muhammad ibn al-Nahhas, (he said): Ibn al-A’rabi narrated to us, Ibrahim (who is Ibn Fahd) narrated to us, Muslim narrated to us, Shu’bah narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Khumayr, from Sulayman ibn Marthad, from Abu al-Darda’, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And it was mentioned and narrated by Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, from Abdullah ibn Numayr, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Aisha, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a long hadith, and in it: 'By Allah, if you knew what I know, you would weep much and laugh little.' ... the hadith."

The meaning is that the realities which Allah Ta'ala has unveiled for me—the terrifying things and the conditions that are before me, those that occur at the time of death and after it, such as the state of the throes of death (alam-i-naza‘), the various punishments of the grave, the horrors of the Day of Judgment, and the calamities of Hell, etc.—if all these were also made manifest to you, and you too were to witness them with your own eyes as I have, then you would forget your comfort and ease, and sorrow would overcome your happiness.
