Musnad of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 13897
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " اعْتَدِلُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، وَلَا يَبْسُطْ أَحَدُكُمْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ كَانْبِسَاطِ الْكَلْبِ " ، هَكَذَا قَالَ يَزِيدُ : " اعْتَدِلُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ " . حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اعْتَدِلُوا فِي السُّجُودِ " ، فَذَكَرَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Maintain moderation in prostrations, and none of you should spread his hands like a dog.
Hadith 13898
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «اعْتَدِلُوا فِي السُّجُودِ، فَذَكَرَهُ
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 13899
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ تَسْوِيَةَ الصُّفُوفِ مِنْ تَمَامِ الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The straightening of the rows is the beauty of prayer.
Hadith 13900
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ مِنْ حُسْنِ الصَّلَاةِ إِقَامَةَ الصَّفِّ " . حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شُعْبَةَ يَقُولُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ : مَا رَفَعَهُ ، فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يَعْنِي الْحَدِيثَ ، فَقَالَ لِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ : هَذَا أَحَدُهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The straightening of the rows is the beauty of prayer.
Hadith 13901
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَتِمُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ تَسْوِيَةَ الصَّفِّ يَعْنِي مِنْ تَمَامِ الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The straightening of the rows is the beauty of prayer.
Hadith 13902
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ " تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَجَازَ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) married an Ansari woman for a gold piece equal to a date stone, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared it permissible.
Hadith 13903
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، وَ سُفْيَانُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) married an Ansari woman for a gold piece equal to a date stone.
Hadith 13904
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " تَزَوَّجَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَجَازَ ذَلِكَ " ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ الْحَكَمُ يَأْخُذُ بِهَذَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) married an Ansari woman for a gold piece equal to a date stone, (the Prophet ﷺ declared it permissible).
Hadith 13905
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، " فَاسْتَعَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : مَنْدُوبٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا رَأَيْنَا مِنْ فَزَعٍ ، وَإِنْ وَجَدْنَاهُ لَبَحْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during the night, the people of Madinah were alarmed due to fear of the enemy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) borrowed one of our horses, whose name was Mandub, and said, "There is nothing to worry about." Regarding the horse, he said, "We found it as swift as the sea."
Hadith 13906
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، وَبَهْزٌ ، وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : بَهْزٌ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، وَقَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَاسْتَعَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ " . فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is to bury it.
Hadith 13907
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ وَبَهْرٌ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَهُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ بَهْزُ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَهُ - عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؛ وَقَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكِ يَقُولُ : كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَاسْتَعَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَسًا لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ
Waki‘, Bahr, and Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, they said: Shu‘bah narrated to us from Qatadah. Bahz said: Qatadah narrated to us from Anas; and Abu al-Nadr said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: There was a panic in al-Madinah, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ borrowed a horse belonging to Abu Talhah, and he mentioned the meaning of the hadith of Muhammad ibn Ja‘far.
Hadith 13908
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ " ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : يَعْنِي أُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : وَسَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، يَقُولُ فِي قَصَصِهِ : كَفَضْلِ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَمْ قَالَهُ قَتَادَةُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I and the Hour have been sent like these two fingers together." Saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards his index finger and middle finger.
Hadith 13909
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ . وَأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ شَاذَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِرَجُلٍ يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً : " ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا وَيْحَكَ ، فِي الثَّالِثَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to ride it. He replied, "This is a sacrificial animal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him two or three times to ride it.
Hadith 13910
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا وَيْحَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. Hadith 13911
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ ، وَوَالِدِهِ ، وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you can be a believer until I become more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all people.
Hadith 13912
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ وَجَدَ طَعْمَ الْإِيمَانِ : مَنْ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الْمَرْءَ لَا يُحِبُّهُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا ، وَمَنْ كَانَ أَنْ يُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فِي الْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنْقَذَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three things, whoever possesses them will taste the sweetness of faith: First, that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anyone else; second, that when he loves someone, he loves him only for the sake of Allah; and third, that after being saved from disbelief, he dislikes returning to it just as he would dislike being thrown into the fire.
Hadith 13913
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَنْصَارَ ، فَقَالَ : أَفِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ ؟ فَقَالُوا : لَا ، إِلَّا ابْنُ أُخْتٍ لَنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : أَوْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَمُصِيبَةٍ ، وَإِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُجِيزَهُمْ وَأَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ ، أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا ، وَتَرْجِعُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ ، لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا ، وَسَلَكَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا ، لَسَلَكْتُ شِعْبَ الْأَنْصَارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered the Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked them, "Is there anyone among you who is not from the Ansar?" They replied, "No, except that we have a nephew." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A nephew of a people is counted among them." Then he said, "The time of ignorance and hardship of the Quraysh is near, and through it I reconcile their hearts. Are you not pleased that people will go away with wealth and property, and you will take the Messenger of Allah to your homes? If people walk on one path and the Ansar on another, I will walk on the path of the Ansar."
Hadith 13914
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ : إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا سورة الفتح آية 1 قَالَ : " الْحُدَيْبِيَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning from Hudaybiyyah, this verse was revealed to him: "Indeed, We have given you a clear victory."
Hadith 13915
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَخَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، وَعُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ ، فَكَانُوا لَا يَجْهَرُونَ بِ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have prayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and with the three Caliphs, and I did not hear any one of them recite "Bismillah" aloud.
Hadith 13916
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الرُّومِ كِتَابًا ، قَالُوا : إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابًا إِلَّا مَخْتُومًا ، قَالَ : " فَاتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَقْشُهُ : مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to write a letter to the Romans, the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted that those people only read sealed letters. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a silver ring made. Its whiteness is still before my eyes. The inscription on it was: "Muhammad Rasul Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)".
Hadith 13917
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " يَهْرَمُ ابْنُ آدَمَ ، وَتَبْقَى مِنْهُ اثْنَتَانِ : الْحِرْصُ ، وَالْأَمَلُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person grows old, but two things always remain in him: desire and hope.
Hadith 13918
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجُ ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " انْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِرْقَتَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the moon was split into two parts.
Hadith 13919
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، سَمِعَ أَنَسًا ، يَقُولُ : " انْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no reality in contagiousness of disease and evil omens, but I like optimism. Someone asked, "What is meant by optimism?" He replied, "A good word."
Hadith 13920
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ . وحَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، وَهِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا عَدْوَى ، وَلَا طِيَرَةَ ، وَلَا فَأْلَ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ : وَمَا الْفَأْلُ ؟ قَالَ : الْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ " ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: The real life is the life of the Hereafter, or he would say: O Allah! There is no life except the life of the Hereafter, so honor the Ansar and the Muhajireen.
Hadith 13921
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْعَيْشَ عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ " ، وَقَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أَوْ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ ، فَأَكْرِمِ الْأَنْصَارَ ، وَالْمُهَاجِرَهْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some meat given as charity came to Bareerah (the servant of Hazrat Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is charity for her and a gift for us."
Hadith 13922
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ . وحَدَّثَنِي وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِلَحْمٍ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّهُ قَدْ تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ ، وَهُوَ لَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once something of charity came to Bareerah (the slave girl of Hazrat Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is charity for her and a gift for us."
Hadith 13923
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنَّ بَرِيرَةَ تُصُدِّقَ عَلَيْهَا بِصَدَقَةٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ ، وَلَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once something of charity came to Bareerah (the maid of Hazrat Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is charity for her and a gift for us."
Hadith 13924
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ : " وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ " قَالَ : حُبَّ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ، قَالَ : " أَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a Bedouin came and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) be established?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What preparation have you made for the Hour?" He said, "Love for Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You will be with those whom you love."
Hadith 13925
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَنْذَرَ أُمَّتَهُ الْأَعْوَرَ الْكَافِرَ ، أَلَا إِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ ، وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ ، مَكْتُوبٌ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ : ك ف ر " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever a prophet was sent to the world, he surely warned his nation about the one-eyed liar. Be aware! The Dajjal will be one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed, and between his (Dajjal's) two eyes will be written "Kafir" (disbeliever).
Hadith 13926
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ ، يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا ، وَإِنَّ لَهُ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ، غَيْرَ الشَّهِيدِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَتَمَنَّى أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا ، فَيُقْتَلَ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ ، لِمَا يَرَى مِنَ الْكَرَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person who enters Paradise will ever wish to leave Paradise, except the martyr, who will wish to return to the world and be martyred again in the way of Allah, because he will see the honor that has been bestowed upon him.
Hadith 13927
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ الْأَعْوَرُ ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ . وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ النَّبِيَّ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَامُ " مِنْ أَخَفِّ النَّاسِ صَلَاةً فِي تَمَامٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the lightest and the most complete.
Hadith 13928
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ ذَرَّةً ، أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ شَعِيرَةً ، أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ بُرَّةً " ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَقُولُ اللَّهُ : أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ " ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ : " أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ دُودَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will say: Remove from Hell every person who used to declare 'La ilaha illallah' and in whose heart there is goodness equal to a grain of barley. Then Allah Almighty will say: Remove from Hell every person who used to declare 'La ilaha illallah' and in whose heart there is goodness equal to a particle. Then Allah Almighty will say: Remove from Hell every person who used to declare 'La ilaha illallah' and in whose heart there is goodness equal to a grain of wheat.
Hadith 13929
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ : يَقُولُ اللَّهُ : أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ ...» فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ : أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ دُودَةٌ»
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Shu'bah informed us from Qatadah, from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ who said: Allah says: "Bring out from the Fire..." — and he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Ibn Ja'far, and he added in it: "Bring out from the Fire whoever said: La ilaha illa Allah, and in his heart is goodness weighing as much as a worm."
Hadith 13930
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَبَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تُوَاصِلُوا ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ! قَالَ : إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ ، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ ، وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ : إِنِّي أَظَلُّ ، أَوْ : أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not observe continuous fasts with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor) for several days. Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You do so?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: I am not like you in this matter; my Lord gives me food and drink.
Hadith 13931
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَتَى عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : " وَيْحَكَ ، أَوْ : وَيْلَكَ ، ارْكَبْهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to ride it. He replied, "This is a sacrificial animal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him two or three times to ride it.
Hadith 13932
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ دَعْوَةً قَدْ دَعَا بِهَا فِي أُمَّتِهِ ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ اخْتَبَأْتُ دَعْوَتِي شَفَاعَةً لِأُمَّتِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every prophet had a supplication which he certainly made and it was accepted, whereas I have reserved my supplication for interceding for my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 13933
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : قَتَادَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " جَمَعَ الْأَنْصَارَ ، فَقَالَ : هَلْ فِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ ؟ قَالُوا : لَا ، إِلَّا ابْنَ أُخْتٍ لَنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : مِنْهُمْ " ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ قُرَّةَ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered the Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked them, "Is there anyone among you who is not from the Ansar?" They replied, "No, except that we have a nephew." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A nephew of a people is counted among them."
Hadith 13934
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالُوا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْنَا ، فَكَيْفَ نَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ ؟ قَالَ : " قُولُوا : وَعَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about this issue: The People of the Book greet us with Salam, what should we reply to them? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Just say "Wa Alaikum" in response.
Hadith 13935
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَاَ شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَقَاطَعُوا ، وَلَا تَبَاغَضُوا ، وَلَا تَحَاسَدُوا ، وَكُونُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not cut off relations with one another, do not harbor hatred, do not turn your backs on each other, and do not be envious of one another. And O servants of Allah! Be brothers to one another.
Hadith 13936
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ : اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ، وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً ، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ " ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِقَتَادَةَ ، فَقَالَ قَتَادَةُ : كَانَ أَنَسٌ يَقُولُ هَذَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to frequently supplicate: O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of Hell.
