For whatever hears the sound of the adhan—whether jinn, humans, or stones—will bear witness in his favor on the Day of Resurrection. Qaza’ah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Once I came to Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), and at that time many people were gathered around him. When the people dispersed, I said to him, “The questions these people were asking you, I will not ask you those. I want to ask you about the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).” He replied, “There is no benefit for you in that.” Eventually, after some insistence and repetition, he said, “When the Zuhr prayer was established, one of us would go towards Baqi’, relieve himself, come home, perform ablution, and then return to the mosque, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would still be in the first rak’ah.” Then I asked him about zakat. He said (either attributing it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or without attributing it): “On two hundred dirhams, five dirhams are obligatory, and from forty to one hundred and twenty goats, one goat is obligatory. When there is even one more than one hundred and twenty, up to two hundred, two goats are obligatory. Then if there is even one more, up to three hundred, three goats are obligatory. Then for every hundred, one goat will be obligatory. Similarly, on five camels, one goat is obligatory; on ten, two; on fifteen, three; on twenty, four; and from twenty-five to thirty-five, one bint makhad; from thirty-six to forty-five, one bint labun; from forty-six to sixty, one hiqqah; from sixty-one to seventy-five, one jadh’ah; from seventy-six to ninety, two bint labun; from ninety-one to one hundred and twenty, two hiqqahs will be obligatory. After that, for every fifty, one hiqqah, and for every forty, one bint labun will be obligatory.” Then I asked him about fasting. He said, “Once we traveled to Makkah with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while fasting. We camped at one place, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘You have come close to the enemy, and in this state, breaking the fast will give you more strength.’ This was a concession, so some of us kept our fast and some broke it. Then when we camped at the next place, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Now you are in front of the enemy, and in this state, breaking the fast will give you more strength, so break your fast.’ This was a command, so we broke our fast. Then he said that after that, once during a journey, we also saw ourselves with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a state of fasting.”

The inhabitants of the heavens will be pleased with him, and so will the inhabitants of the earth. He will distribute wealth correctly. Someone asked, "What is meant by distributing wealth correctly?" He replied, "He will distribute it equally among the people." And in his time, Allah will fill the hearts of the Ummah of Muhammad with contentment, and He will grant them abundance through his justice, to the extent that he will order a caller, and the caller will announce that whoever is in need of wealth should come to us. Only one man will come to him and say, "I am in need." He will say to him, "Go to the treasurer and tell him that Mahdi orders you to give me wealth." The treasurer, according to the order, will say to him, "Take as much as you can with your own hands." When he wraps it up in a cloth and ties it, he will feel ashamed and say to himself, "I am the greediest among the Ummah of Muhammad; did I not have as much as the others had?" Thinking this, he will return all the wealth, but it will not be accepted back from him, and he will be told, "We do not take back what we have given." This situation will remain for seven, or eight, or nine years, after which there will be no benefit in living.
