Hadith 7999
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ الْعَلَاءَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَنَا خَيْرُ الشُّرَكَاءِ ، فَمَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا فَأَشْرَكَ فِيهِ غَيْرِي ، فَأَنَا بَرِيءٌ مِنْهُ ، وَهُوَ لِلَّذِي أَشْرَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conveyed this saying of his Lord: "I am the best among all partners. Whoever performs a deed and associates someone else with Me in it, I am free from him, and that deed will belong to the one whom he associated with Me."
Hadith 8000
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ ، قال : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " أَنَا خَيْرُ الشُّرَكَاءِ ، مَنْ عَمِلَ لِي عَمَلًا فَأَشْرَكَ فِيهِ غَيْرِي ، فَأَنَا مِنْهُ بَرِيءٌ ، وَهُوَ لِلَّذِي أَشْرَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conveyed this saying of his Lord: "I am the best among all partners. Hadith 8001
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الصَّادِقَ الْمَصْدُوقَ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَاحِبَ الْحُجْرَةِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا تُنْزَعُ الرَّحْمَةُ إِلَّا مِنْ شَقِيٍّ " . قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : كَتَبَ بِهِ إِلَيَّ وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ ، يَعْنِي مَنْصُورًا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) — I heard the truthful and trusted Abu al-Qasim, the owner of the chamber, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) — saying: "Mercy is withdrawn only from the one who is himself wretched."
Hadith 8002
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْكَمْأَةُ مِنَ الْمَنِّ ، وَمَاؤُهَا شِفَاءٌ لِلْعَيْنِ ، وَالْعَجْوَةُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَمَاؤُهَا شِفَاءٌ مِنَ السُّمِّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The mushroom is a part of manna (which was sent down upon the Children of Israel), and its water is a cure for the eyes. And the Ajwa date is a date from Paradise, and its water is a cure for poison."
Hadith 8003
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الطَّحَّانِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " قِه " ، قَالَ : لِمَهْ ؟ قَالَ : " أَيَسُرُّكَ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ مَعَكَ الْهِرُّ ؟ " ، قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ شَرِبَ مَعَكَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ ، الشَّيْطَانُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man drinking water while standing, so he said to him, "Vomit it out." He asked, "Why?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you like that a cat drinks water with you?" He said, "No." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Something more evil than a cat has drunk water with you, and that is Satan."
Hadith 8004
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي زِيَادٍ مَوْلَى الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، فَذَكَرَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 8005
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يُهْلِكُ أُمَّتِي هَذَا الْحَيُّ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ " ، قَالُوا : فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " لَوْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ اعْتَزَلُوهُمْ " . قال عبد الله بن أحمد : وقَالَ أَبِي فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ : اضْرِبْ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، فَإِنَّهُ خِلَافُ الْأَحَادِيثِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ : " اسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا وَاصْبِرُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "This tribe of Quraysh will destroy my Ummah." People asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Then what do you command us to do?" He said, "If people remain separate, that is better." Abdullah bin Ahmad, who is the son of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him), says that his father, during his illness of death, said: "Mark this hadith, because it is contrary to other ahadith in which it is said: Listen to them, obey them, and be patient."
Hadith 8006
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، سُئِلَ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ الْإِمَامِ فِي الصَّلواتُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " فِي كُلِّ الصَّلَوَاتِ يُقْرَأُ ، فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ ، وَمَا أَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا ، أَخْفَيْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that recitation is done in every prayer. However, in the prayer in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud to us, we too will recite aloud to you, and in the prayer in which he recited quietly, we too will recite quietly.
Hadith 8007
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أُكَيْمَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْصَرَفَ مِنْ صَلَاةٍ جَهَرَ فِيهَا بِالْقِرَاءَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ قَرَأَ مَعِي أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ آنِفًا ؟ " ، قَالَ رَجُلٌ : نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " إِنِّي أَقُولُ : مَا لِي أُنَازَعُ الْقُرْآنَ ؟ ! " . قَالَ : فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيمَا جَهَرَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الصَّلَواتِ حِينَ سَمِعُوا ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that after finishing a loud (jahri) prayer, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Did any of you recite (Qur'an) with me?" A man said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That is why I was wondering why there was a dispute with me in the Qur'an." After that, people stopped reciting behind the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in loud prayers.
Hadith 8008
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ، فِي يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ ، كَانَتْ لَهُ عَدْلَ عَشْرِ رِقَابٍ ، وَكُتِبَ لَهُ مِائَةُ حَسَنَةٍ ، وَمُحِيَتْ عَنْهُ مِائَةُ سَيِّئَةٍ ، وَكَانَتْ لَهُ حِرْزًا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ يَوْمَهُ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يُمْسِيَ ، وَلَمْ يَأْتِ أَحَدٌ بِأَفْضَلَ مِمَّا جَاءَ بِهِ ، إِلَّا أَحَدٌ عَمِلَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever recites these words a hundred times during the day: "La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulk wa lahul hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer," it will be equal to freeing ten slaves, and a hundred good deeds will be written for him, and a hundred sins will be erased, and it will be a means of protection from Satan for him until the evening. And no one will be able to present a deed superior to this except the one who does more than this.
Hadith 8009
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ قَالَ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، فِي يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ ، حُطَّتْ خَطَايَاهُ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ مِثْلَ زَبَدِ الْبَحْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever says "Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi" one hundred times during the day, all his sins will be erased, even if they are as much as the foam of the sea.
Hadith 8010
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ مُوسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " شَرُّ مَا فِي رَجُلٍ شُحٌّ هَالِعٌ ، وَجُبْنٌ خَالِعٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The worst thing in a person is miserliness accompanied by impatience and excessive cowardice.
Hadith 8011
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ حُنَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ : قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ، فَقَالَ : " وَجَبَتْ " قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا وَجَبَتْ ؟ قَالَ : " وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a man reciting Surah Ikhlas, so he said, "It has become obligatory." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What has become obligatory?" He replied, "Paradise has become obligatory for him."
Hadith 8012
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، وأبي هريرة ، أن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى مِنَ الْكَلَامِ أَرْبَعًا : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ، وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، فَمَنْ قَالَ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عِشْرِينَ حَسَنَةً ، أَوْ حَطَّ عَنْهُ عِشْرِينَ سَيِّئَةً ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، فَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، فَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ، مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِهِ ، كُتِبَتْ لَهُ ثَلَاثُونَ حَسَنَةً وَحُطَّ عَنْهُ ثَلَاثُونَ سَيِّئَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah has chosen four phrases: Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, and Allahu Akbar. Whoever says Subhan Allah, twenty good deeds are written for him or twenty sins are forgiven. Whoever says Allahu Akbar and La ilaha illallah receives the same reward. And whoever says Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen from his own side, thirty good deeds are written for him or thirty sins are forgiven.
Hadith 8013
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ . وَعَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " عَجِبَ رَبُّنَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يُقَادُونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ فِي السَّلَاسِلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Our Lord is amazed at those people who are dragged to Paradise in chains (their deeds are taking them towards Hell, but Allah's mercy is taking them towards Paradise).
Hadith 8014
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَهْلِهِ سَأَلَ عَنْهُ ، فَإِنْ قِيلَ : هَدِيَّةٌ ، أَكَلَ ، وَإِنْ قِيلَ : صَدَقَةٌ ، قَالَ : " كُلُوا " ، وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when food would come to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere other than his own house, he (peace be upon him) would inquire about it. If it was said that it was a gift, he (peace be upon him) would eat from it, and if it was said that it was charity, he (peace be upon him) would tell the people to eat it and would not eat it himself.
Hadith 8015
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ رِجَالٌ رَغْبَةً عَنْهَا ، وَالْمَدِينَةُ خَيْرٌ لَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Some people will leave Madinah with reluctance, although if they knew, Madinah would have been better for them.
Hadith 8016
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " يَدْخُلُ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ . فقال : " اللَّهُمَّّّ اجْعَلْه مِنهُم " ، ثُمَّ قَامَ آخَرُ فَقَالَ : ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ . فَقَالَ : " سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Seventy thousand people from my Ummah will enter Paradise without reckoning. A man said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), pray to Allah that He includes me among them." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, "O Allah, include him among them." Then another stood up and made the same request, but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Ukasha has preceded you."
Hadith 8017
حدثنا عبدُ الرحمن ، حدثنا عبدُ الواحد يعني ابنَ زيادٍ ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ أَخُو حَجَّاجٍ الْأَنْمَاطِيُّ ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ مثله ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عن النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The sermon in which there is no testimony of the Oneness of Allah and the Messengership is like a hand afflicted with leprosy.
Hadith 8018
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قال : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْخُطْبَةُ الَّتِي لَيْسَ فِيهَا شَهَادَةٌ ، كَالْيَدِ الْجَذْمَاءِ " .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 8019
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لَا يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever does not thank people, does not thank Allah.
Hadith 8020
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ الْعَبْدُ الْمُسْلِمُ أَوْ الْمُؤْمِنُ ، فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ خَرَجَتْ مِنْ وَجْهِهِ كُلُّ خَطِيئَةٍ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا بِعَيْنِهِ مَعَ الْمَاءِ أَوْ مَعَ آخِرِ قَطْرِ الْمَاءِ ، أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذَا ، فَإِذَا غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ، خَرَجَتْ مِنْ يَدَيْهِ كُلُّ خَطِيئَةٍ بَطَشَ بِهَا مَعَ الْمَاءِ أَوْ مَعَ آخِرِ قَطْرِ الْمَاءِ ، حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ نَقِيًّا مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a believing servant performs ablution and washes his face, every sin that his eyes have looked at comes out from his face with the water of ablution. When he washes his hands, all the sins committed by his hands come out with the water, until he emerges purified and cleansed from sins.
Hadith 8021
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا يَمْحُو اللَّهُ بِهِ الْخَطَايَا ، وَيَرْفَعُ بِهِ الدَّرَجَاتِ ؟ إِسْبَاغُ الْوُضُوءِ عَلَى الْمَكَارِهِ ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : فِي الْمَكَارِهِ وَكَثْرَةُ الْخُطَى إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ ، وَانْتِظَارُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ ، فَذَلِكُمْ الرِّبَاطُ ، فَذَلِكُمْ الرِّبَاطُ ، فَذَلِكُمْ الرِّبَاطُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you of something by which Allah raises ranks and erases sins? Performing ablution thoroughly despite natural dislike (especially in the cold season), taking many steps towards the mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after performing one prayer—this is like guarding the frontiers (he said this three times).
Hadith 8022
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَوْ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مَا فِي النِّدَاءِ وَالصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَجِدُوا إِلَّا أَنْ يَسْتَهِمُوا عَلَيْهِ ، لَاسْتَهَمُوا عَلَيْهِ ، وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِي التَّهْجِيرِ لَاسْتَبَقُوا إِلَيْهِ ، وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِي الْعَتَمَةِ وَالصُّبْحِ لَأَتَوْهُمَا وَلَوْ حَبْوًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If people were to know what reward there is in the call to prayer and in the first row (of prayer), and then they could not attain these except by drawing lots, they would certainly draw lots for them. And if people were to know what reward there is in coming early to the prayer, they would race each other to it. And if they were to know what reward there is in the Isha and Fajr prayers, they would attend them even if they had to crawl.
Hadith 8023
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي رُهْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " رُبَّ يَمِينٍ لَا تَصْعَدُ إِلَى اللَّهِ بِهَذِهِ الْبُقْعَةِ " ، فَرَأَيْتُ فِيهَا النَّخَّاسِينَ بَعْدُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying that there are many occasions of oaths in which a person's oath does not reach Allah even above that piece of land. Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says that later I saw slaves and animal traders at that place.
Hadith 8024
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " هَلْ تَرَوْنَ قِبْلَتِي هَاهُنَا ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا يَخْفَى عَلَيَّ خُشُوعُكُمْ وَلَا رُكُوعُكُمْ ، إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you think my qiblah is here? By Allah, your humility is not hidden from me, nor do I fail to see you behind my back while you are in bowing (ruku’)."
Hadith 8025
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ لُدَيْنٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ يَوْمُ عِيدٍ ، فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا يَوْمَ عِيدِكُمْ يَوْمَ صِيَامِكُمْ ، إِلَّا أَنْ تَصُومُوا قَبْلَهُ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I heard him say that Friday is a day of Eid, so do not fast on the day of Eid except that you fast along with it on Thursday or Saturday.
Hadith 8026
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَيُّ الصَّلَاةِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ ؟ قَالَ : " الصَّلَاةُ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ " . قِيلَ : قِيلَ : أَيُّ الصِّيَامِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ ؟ قَالَ : " شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي تَدْعُونَهُ الْمُحَرَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that someone asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Which prayer is the most virtuous after the obligatory prayers?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The prayer performed in the middle part of the night." He was asked, "After the fasts of Ramadan, which day's fast is the most virtuous?" He replied, "The month of Allah which you call Muharram (its fasts are the most virtuous)."
Hadith 8027
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وأبي سعيد الخدري ، أن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ وَصَبٍ وَلَا نَصَبٍ ، وَلَا هَمٍّ وَلَا حَزَنٍ ، وَلَا أَذًى وَلَا غَمٍّ ، حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةُ يُشَاكُهَا ، إِلَّا كَفَّرَ اللَّهُ مِنْ خَطَايَاهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever worry, hardship, sorrow, grief, difficulty, or harm befalls a Muslim—even if a thorn pricks him—Allah, in return, expiates some of his sins.
Hadith 8028
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَمُؤَمَّلٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ مُؤَمَّلٌ : الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ وَرْدَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمَرْءُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِطُ " . وَقَالَ مُؤَمَّلٌ : " مَنْ يُخَالِلُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person is on the religion of his friend, so you should consider carefully whom you take as your friend.
Hadith 8029
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّّّّّّّل ، وعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَن ، عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَنْ الْمُفْلِسُ ؟ " قَالُوا : الْمُفْلِسُ فِينَا ، يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَنْ لَا دِرْهَمَ لَهُ وَلَا مَتَاعَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمُفْلِسَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مَنْ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِصِيَامٍ وَصَلَاةٍ وَزَكَاةٍ ، وَيَأْتِي قَدْ شَتَمَ عِرْضَ هَذَا ، وَقَذَفَ هَذَا ، وَأَكَلَ مَالَ هَذَا ، فَيُقْعَدُ ، فَيَقْتَصُّ هَذَا مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ ، وَهَذَا مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ ، فَإِنْ فَنِيَتْ حَسَنَاتُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْضِيَ مَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا ، أُخِذَ مِنْ خَطَايَاهُمْ فَطُرِحَتْ عَلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ طُرِحَ فِي النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know who is the bankrupt? The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: O Messenger of Allah! Among us, the bankrupt is the one who has neither any money nor any belongings. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The bankrupt of my Ummah will be the person who will come on the Day of Judgment with prayers, fasting, and zakat, but he will have abused someone, slandered someone, unlawfully consumed someone’s wealth. He will be made to sit down, and each of them will be given his good deeds as compensation. If his good deeds finish before the judgment of his sins is completed, then the sins of the claimants will be placed upon him, and then he will be thrown into Hell.
Hadith 8030
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بن عبد الرحمن ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " بَادِرُوا بِالْأَعْمَالِ فِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ ، يُصْبِحُ الرَّجُلُ مُؤْمِنًا وَيُمْسِي كَافِرًا ، وَيُمْسِي مُؤْمِنًا ، وَيُصْبِحُ كَافِرًا ، يَبِيعُ دِينَهُ بِعَرَضٍ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا قَلِيلٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hasten to perform righteous deeds before the coming of tribulations which will be like the dark portions of the night. In that time, a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, or a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning, and he will sell his religion for a small portion of worldly goods.
Hadith 8031
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَوْشَبُ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَهْدِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فِي بَيْتِهِ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ ؟ فَقَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ " . وَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ : عَنْ مَهْدِيٍّ الْعَبْديِّ .
Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I went to the house of Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) to serve him. I asked him about the issue of fasting on the Day of Arafah in the plain of Arafat. He replied that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on the Day of Arafah in the plain of Arafat.
Hadith 8032
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنْ خِلَاسِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْهَجَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْلَا بَنُوا إِسْرَائِيلَ ، لَمْ يَخْنَزْ اللَّحْمُ ، وَلَمْ يَخْبُثْ الطَّعَامُ ، وَلَوْلَا حَوَّاءُ ، لَمْ تَخُنْ أُنْثَى زَوْجَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If it were not for the Children of Israel, no person would have stored meat and food would not have spoiled, and if it were not for Hazrat Hawwa (Eve), no woman would have betrayed her husband.
Hadith 8033
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ظَالِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حِبِّي أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ فَسَادَ أُمَّتِي عَلَى يَدَيْ غِلْمَةٍ سُفَهَاءَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard my beloved Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The destruction of my Ummah will be at the hands of a few foolish youths from the Quraysh."
Hadith 8034
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ النَّجْمَ ، فَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ ، إِلَّا رَجُلَيْنِ أَرَادَا الشُّهْرَةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Najm. When he reached the verse of prostration, he (peace be upon him) also performed it. Except for two men who wanted to gain fame.
Hadith 8035
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلْقَمَةَ يَعْنِي الْفَرْوِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ خُصَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ أَصَابَتْ بَخُورًا ، فَلَا تَشْهَدَنَّ عِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A woman who applies perfume should not participate in the Isha prayer.
Hadith 8036
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ وَاسِعٍ ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ نَهَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ حُسْنَ الظَّنِّ مِنْ حُسْنِ الْعِبَادَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Having a good opinion (of Allah) is also a part of good worship.
Hadith 8037
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنَ أُثَالٍ ، أَوْ أُثَالَةَ أَسْلَمَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اذْهَبُوا بِهِ إِلَى حَائِطِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ ، فَمُرُوهُ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Thumamah bin Uthal accepted Islam, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take him to the garden of such-and-such person and instruct him to perform ghusl (ritual bath)." Hadith 8038
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : أُرْسِلَ عَلَى أَيُّوبَ جَرَادٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَجَعَلَ يَلْتَقِطُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَلَمْ أُغْنِكَ يَا أَيُّوبُ ؟ " قَالَ : يَا رَبِّ ، وَمَنْ يَشْبَعُ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ أَوْ قَالَ : " مِنْ فَضْلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Once Allah Almighty showered golden locusts upon Hazrat Ayub (peace be upon him). Hazrat Ayub (peace be upon him) began to gather them in his garment. Meanwhile, a voice came: "O Ayub! Have We not given you enough of what is sufficient for you?" He replied: "O Lord, who can remain independent of Your grace or mercy?"
