Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, soon Jesus (peace be upon him) will descend among you as a just ruler. He will break the cross, kill the swine, abolish the jizya, and wealth will flow like water to the extent that there will be no one left to accept it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What will be your condition when Jesus (peace be upon him) descends among you and your leader will be one from among yourselves?"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, it will surely happen that Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) will assume the Ihram for Hajj or Umrah or both from the place of Faj-ur-Rawha.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should speak ill of time, for the Creator of time is Allah Himself, and do not call grapes "karm" (noble), for the real "karm" (noble one) is the Muslim man.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah says, "The son of Adam hurts Me; he says that time has ruined him, whereas I am the Creator of time. I am the One who alternates its night and day, and whenever I wish, I will draw both of them back to Myself."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever approaches his wife from her back passage, Allah will not look at him with mercy.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you hear a man saying that the people are ruined, then know that he is the most ruined among them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: When the Imam is delivering the Friday sermon and you say to your companion, "Be quiet," then you have engaged in idle talk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no day on which the sun rises or sets that is more virtuous than Friday, and every living creature except jinn and humans becomes anxious on Friday (fearing that this might be the Friday on which the Day of Judgment will be established). On Friday, at every door of the mosque, two angels are appointed who record, in order, those who arrive first, like the one who offered a camel, then the one who offered a cow, then the one who offered a goat, then the one who offered a bird, then the one who offered an egg. And when the Imam comes and sits, the records are folded up.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On Friday, there is a moment such that if a Muslim servant encounters it while asking Allah for goodness, Allah will surely grant him that thing, and it is after Asr.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is recommended for the one who bathes the deceased to perform ghusl, and it is recommended for the one who carries the bier to perform wudu.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer for someone and accompanies the funeral, he will receive a reward equal to two qirats, as great as Mount Uhud. And whoever only offers the funeral prayer but does not accompany the funeral, he will receive a reward equal to one qirat, as great as Mount Uhud.

Muhammad bin Amr, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once Salamah bin Azraq was sitting with Hazrat Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, in the market when a funeral passed by, behind which the sounds of weeping were coming. Hazrat Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, considered it blameworthy and scolded them. Salamah bin Azraq said, "Do not say it like that. I bear witness regarding Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that once a woman from the family of Marwan died, and the women gathered and began to weep over her. Marwan said, 'Abdul Malik, go and stop these women from weeping.' Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, was present there. I myself heard him say, 'O Abu Abdul Malik, leave them. Once a funeral passed in front of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, over which there was weeping. I was also present with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was also there. He scolded the women who were weeping with the funeral, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "O Ibn Khattab, leave them, for the eye sheds tears and the heart grieves, and the wound is still fresh."' He asked, 'Did you yourself hear this narration from Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him?' He replied, 'Yes.' Upon this, they said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the man who broke his fast in the month of Ramadan by approaching his wife to either free a slave, or fast for two consecutive months, or feed sixty needy people.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said, "Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is especially for Me, and I Myself will give its reward. Fasting is a shield. On the day when any of you is fasting, he should neither indulge in idle talk nor raise his voice. If someone abuses him or wants to fight with him, he should simply say, 'I am fasting' (twice). The fasting person experiences two moments of joy: when he breaks his fast, he is happy, and when he meets Allah, he will also be happy. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you is praying, Satan comes to him and confuses him, so much so that he does not remember how many rak'ahs he has prayed. Whoever experiences this should, when he sits in the final sitting (qa'dah akheerah), perform two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajda sahw).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The superiority of prayer in congregation over prayer offered alone is twenty-five degrees more.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that recitation is done in every prayer. However, in those prayers in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud to us, we too will recite aloud to you, and in those in which he recited quietly, we too will recite quietly.

It is narrated, most likely as a marfu’ hadith, from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that surplus water should not be withheld so that surplus grass may be withheld.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever buys a goat (having been deceived) whose udders have been tied, then he should either keep the animal with himself (and resolve the matter) or return the animal to its owner and along with it give one sa’ of dates.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you wishes to sell his goat or she-camel, he should not tie up its udder.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No townsman should sell the goods of a villager; do not deceive in trade; no man should bid over his brother's sale; no man should send a marriage proposal over his brother's proposal; and no woman should demand the divorce of her sister (whether real or religious sister).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever relieves a Muslim of one of the worldly troubles, Allah will relieve him of one of the troubles of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in the Hereafter. And as long as a servant remains engaged in helping his brother, Allah Almighty remains engaged in helping that servant.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of your neighbors asks permission to fix his beam in your wall, do not prevent him. When Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith before the people, they began to raise their heads and look at him (as if they were surprised at this). Seeing this, Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What is the matter that I see you turning away? By Allah, I will surely enforce it among your shoulders (i.e., implement it).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a dispute between two women of the tribe of Banu Huzail. One of them struck the other, who was pregnant, with a stone and killed her, and the child in her womb was also born dead. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled in this matter that the family of the killer must pay the blood money (diyat) for the slain woman, and for her child, one "ghurra" (i.e., a male or female slave). Upon this decision, a man objected (in rhymed prose), saying, "How can the blood money for a child be decided, who neither ate nor drank, nor spoke nor cried? Such things are usually left aside." According to Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This man is the brother of soothsayers."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The wound caused by an animal is without liability, the blood of one who dies by falling into a well is without liability, the blood of one who dies in a mine is also without liability, and for buried treasure that someone finds, one-fifth (khums) is obligatory.

Abdur Rahman A'raj (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I heard Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "You people think that Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates many hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). (Allah has promised to gather everyone together, and you say: Why do the Muhajir Sahabah not narrate these hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? Or why do the Ansar not narrate these hadiths?) The fact is that the Muhajirun used to be busy in the markets and bazaars with trade, and the Ansari companions were occupied with looking after their wealth and gardens, while I was a single man who was often present in the gatherings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). When they were absent, I was present; when they forgot, I remembered. Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Who is there who will spread his cloak (for me to sit on) until my speech is finished, then wrap it around his body? Then he will never forget anything he hears from me.' So I spread the cloak that I was wearing. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his speech, I wrapped it around my body. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, after that day I never forgot anything I heard from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And by Allah, if there were not two verses in the Book of Allah, I would never narrate a single hadith to you." Then he recited those two verses: "Indeed, those who conceal the clear proofs and guidance We have revealed..."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Although we came last, on the Day of Resurrection we will surpass everyone. So Allah guided us to it, and now people follow us in this matter. The Jews have the next day (Saturday), and the Christians have the day after that (Sunday).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every newborn child is pricked by Satan, because of which every newborn child cries, but this did not happen with Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) and his mother Hazrat Maryam (peace be upon her). After this, Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you wish, you may recite this verse in confirmation of it: "I seek Your protection for Maryam and her offspring from the accursed Satan."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best women who ride camels are the women of Quraysh, who are most compassionate to their children in childhood and are the greatest protectors of their husbands’ honor. Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Hazrat Maryam (peace be upon her) never rode a camel.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw Amr bin Amir Khuza'i in Hell dragging his intestines. He was the first person who established the custom of setting animals free in the name of idols.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever repents before the event of the sun rising from the west, his repentance will be accepted.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Every child is born upon pure nature; later, his parents make him a Jew, Christian, or Magian. Its example is like an animal giving birth to an animal—do you find any defect in it? After narrating this hadith, Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you wish, you may recite this verse in confirmation of it: "This is Allah’s creation upon which He has created people; there is no change in Allah’s creation."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty completes the excuse of that servant to whom Allah has granted sixty or seventy years of life; Allah completes his excuse, Allah completes his excuse.

Qasim bin Muhammad says that once Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ka'b Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him) were together. Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) would narrate the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to Ka'b, and Ka'b would narrate to Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) the matters from the previous heavenly books. During this, Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every prophet has a supplication that is certainly accepted, and I have reserved my supplication for the intercession of my ummah on the Day of Resurrection.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once Hazrat Sulaiman (peace be upon him) said, "Tonight I will go around to one hundred women. Each of them will give birth to a boy who will fight in the way of Allah." On this occasion, he forgot to say "InshaAllah" (if Allah wills). As a result, only one of his wives gave birth to an incomplete child. Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If he had said InshaAllah, he would truly have had one hundred sons, and all of them would have fought in the way of Allah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says that none of you should say, "Destruction is caused by time," for I am the Creator of time; I alternate its nights and days, and whenever I wish, I will draw both of them to Myself.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some people asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Is there any difficulty in seeing the sun when there are no clouds in between?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "No, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then said, "Is there any difficulty for you in seeing the moon on the night of the fourteenth when there are no clouds in between?" The people said, "No, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then you will see your Lord in the same way."

Allah will gather the people on the Day of Resurrection and will say, "Whoever used to worship something, let him join it." So whoever used to worship the sun will join it, and whoever used to worship the moon will join it, and whoever used to worship idols and devils will join them. The hypocrites of this Ummah will remain among them. Allah will come to them in a form which they do not recognize and will say, "I am your Lord." They will say, "We seek refuge in Allah from you. We will stay here until our Lord comes. When our Lord comes, we will recognize Him." Then Allah will come to them in a form which they recognize and will say, "I am your Lord." They will reply, "Indeed, You are our Lord." Then all will follow Him.

And the bridge (Sirat) will be set up over the back of Hell, and the first to cross it will be the Messengers. On that day, no one will be allowed to speak except the Messengers, and the words of the Messengers on that day will be, "O Allah, grant safety, grant safety." In Hell, there will be thorns like the thorny bush called Sa'dan. Have you seen the thorns of Sa'dan?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "They will be like the thorns of Sa'dan. No one knows their size except Allah. People will be caught according to their deeds. Some believers will be saved due to their (good) deeds, and some will be recompensed for their deeds, and some will cross the bridge and attain salvation."

When Allah has finished judging between His servants and, by His mercy, wills to take out from Hell whomever He wishes among those who did not associate anything with Allah, and upon whom Allah has mercy, and who used to say 'La ilaha illallah,' the angels will recognize such people by the mark of prostration on their faces. Allah has forbidden the Fire to consume the mark of prostration on a human being. Then those people will be taken out with burnt bodies, and then the water of life will be poured over them, due to which they will rise fresh and green, just as a seed grows out of the mud.

Then one man will remain, whose face will be towards Hell, and he will say, "O my Lord, turn my face away from Hell, for its stench has harmed me and its heat has burnt me." He will keep supplicating, then Allah will turn to him and say, "I have granted your request, but will you ask for anything else?" He will say, "By Your honor, I will not ask for anything else besides this." So Allah will turn his face away from Hell (and towards Paradise). Then he will say, "O my Lord, bring me to the gate of Paradise." Allah will say to him, "Did you not promise Me that you would not ask for anything else after this? Alas, son of Adam, you are very unfaithful to your promises." He will keep asking Allah until the Lord will say, "If I grant you this, will you not ask for anything else?" He will say, "No, by Your honor, I will not ask for anything else." Allah will take from him as many covenants as He wills, according to the firmness of the new promise, and will place him at the gate of Paradise.

When he stands there, all of Paradise will be visible to him, with all its comforts and joys. Then, as long as Allah wills, he will remain silent. Then he will say, "O my Lord, admit me into Paradise." Allah will say to him, "Did you not promise Me that after this you would not ask for anything else?"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once Paradise and Hell had a mutual discussion. Paradise said: O Lord, what is my fault that only the poor and lowly people will enter me? And Hell said: What is my fault that only the tyrants and the arrogant will enter me? Allah said to Hell: You are My punishment; I will punish with you whomever I wish. And He said to Paradise: You are My mercy; I will show mercy through you to whomever I wish. And I will fill both of you. Thus, for Paradise, Allah the Exalted will create a new creation according to His will, and as people are thrown into Hell, Hell will keep saying: Is there any more? Until Allah the Exalted will place His foot of power in it, at which point Hell will be filled, and its parts will contract and join together, and it will say: Enough. Enough, enough.
