Hadith 6795
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا
الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ
أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ
مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نَأْتِي
عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو فَنَتَحَدَّثُ عِنْدَهُ ، فَذَكَرْنَا يَوْمًا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ، فَقَالَ : لَقَدْ ذَكَرْتُمْ رَجُلًا لَا أَزَالُ أُحِبُّهُ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " خُذُوا الْقُرْآنَ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةٍ : مِنَ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ " فَبَدَأَ بِهِ " وَمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، وَأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، وَسَالِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ " .
Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him). He began mentioning Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "He is such a man whom I will always love. I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Learn the Qur'an from four people,' and he first mentioned Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), then Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), then Sayyiduna Salim (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him)."
Hadith 6796
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No Muslim should be killed in exchange for a disbeliever, nor should a dhimmi be killed during the period of his covenant."
Hadith 6797

وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي
خَلِيفَةُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ ، عَنْ
عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ
جَدِّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ ، وَهُوَ مُسْنِدٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ : " الْمُسْلِمُونَ تَكَافَأُ دِمَاؤُهُمْ ، وَيَسْعَى بِذِمَّتِهِمْ أَدْنَاهُمْ ، وَهُمْ يَدٌ عَلَى مَنْ سِوَاهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon while leaning against the Ka'bah and said: "Muslims are united as one hand against everyone else; the blood of all is equal; even the lowest-ranking Muslim can grant protection to someone."
Hadith 6798
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible for a wealthy person or for a strong and able-bodied (healthy and robust) person to take zakat."
Hadith 6799
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا
عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ
سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ
عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ
زِرٍّ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يُقَالُ لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ اقْرَأْ : وَارْقَ ، وَرَتِّلْ كَمَا كُنْتَ تُرَتِّلُ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، فَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَتَكَ عِنْدَ آخِرِ آيَةٍ تَقْرَؤُهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It will be said to the companion of the Qur'an: Recite the Qur'an and ascend the ranks of Paradise, and recite slowly and distinctly as you used to recite slowly and distinctly in the world, for your final abode will be at the last verse you recite."
Hadith 6800
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا

مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ
الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ
عِيسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَمْ أَشْعُرْ ، نَحَرْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَرْمِيَ ؟ قَالَ : " ارْمِ وَلَا حَرَجَ " ، قَالَ آخَرُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، حَلَقْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنْحَرَ ؟ قَالَ : " انْحَرْ وَلَا حَرَجَ " ، فَمَا سُئِلَ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنْ شَيْءٍ قُدِّمَ وَلَا أُخِّرَ إِلَّا قَالَ : " افْعَلْ وَلَا حَرَجَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I thought that shaving the head comes before the sacrifice, so I had my head shaved before offering the sacrifice." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Go and offer the sacrifice, there is no harm." Another man came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I thought that the sacrifice comes before the stoning, so I offered the sacrifice before stoning." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Now go and perform the stoning, there is no harm." On that day, for every question of this nature that was asked to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he replied, "Now do it, there is no harm."
Hadith 6801
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that one day I presented myself before the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, at noon. While we were sitting, two men began to differ over the interpretation of a verse, and as the dispute escalated, their voices grew louder. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The previous nations were destroyed because of their differences regarding their Book."
Hadith 6802
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that whatever he heard from the tongue of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he would write it down so that he could remember it. The people of Quraysh forbade him from this and said, "You write down everything you hear from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, even though the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is also a human being; sometimes he speaks in anger and sometimes in happiness." After what those people said, I stopped writing and mentioned this to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Write! By the One in whose hand is my soul, nothing comes out from my tongue except the truth."
Hadith 6803
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The reward for offering prayer while sitting is half of the reward for offering prayer while standing."

يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ
التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ
أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ
أَبِي مُرَيَّةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " النَّفَّاخَانِ فِي السَّمَاءِ الثَّانِيَةِ ، رَأْسُ أَحَدِهِمَا بِالْمَشْرِقِ وَرِجْلَاهُ بِالْمَغْرِبِ " ، أَوْ قَالَ : " رَأْسُ أَحَدِهِمَا بِالْمَغْرِبِ وَرِجْلَاهُ بِالْمَشْرِقِ ، يَنْتَظِرَانِ مَتَى يُؤْمَرَانِ يَنْفُخَانِ فِي الصُّورِ ، فَيَنْفُخَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The angel who will blow the trumpet is in the second heaven; one of them has his head in the east and his feet in the west, and they are waiting for the command as to when they will be ordered to blow the trumpet so that they may blow it."
Hadith 6805
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the court of the Messenger and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the Sur (Trumpet)?" He replied: "It is a horn in which it will be blown."
Hadith 6806
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ
إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي
عَامِرٌ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، وَعِنْدَهُ الْقَوْمُ ، فَتَخَطَّى إِلَيْهِ ، فَمَنَعُوهُ ، فَقَالَ : دَعُوهُ ، فَأَتَى حَتَّى جَلَسَ عِنْدَهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَخْبِرْنِي بِشَيْءٍ حَفِظْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " الْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ ، وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا نَهَى اللَّهُ عَنْهُ " .
Aamir says that a man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) while some people were already sitting with him. He began to step over their necks. The people stopped him, but Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Let him be." He came and sat with them and said, "Tell me a hadith that you have preserved from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." He replied: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that a Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe, and a Muhajir is one who abandons what Allah has forbidden."
Hadith 6807
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever among you wishes to be saved from the fire of Hell and to be admitted into Paradise, then he should die in such a state that he believes in Allah and the Last Day, and treats people in the way he likes to be treated himself."
Hadith 6808
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The reward for offering prayer while sitting is half of the reward for offering prayer while standing."
Hadith 6809
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw some people performing ablution and their heels were shining (dry). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to the heels from the fire of Hell! Wash the parts of ablution thoroughly and completely."
Hadith 6810
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites the Qur'an in less than three days has not understood it."
Hadith 6811
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, to seek permission to participate in jihad. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked him, "Are your parents alive?" He replied, "Yes!" The Prophet said, "Then go and strive in their service."
Hadith 6812
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 6813
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which migration is the best?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you leave those things which are disliked by your Lord. And migration is of two types: the migration of the townsman and the migration of the villager. The migration of the villager is that when he is invited, he accepts, and when he is commanded, he obeys. And the trial of the townsman is greater, and his reward is also greater."
Hadith 6814
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا
زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنْ
عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ الْمُهَاجِرُ ؟ قَالَ : " مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا نَهَى اللَّهُ عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the court of the Prophet and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who is the true emigrant?" The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The emigrant is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden."
Hadith 6815
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever gives allegiance to an Imam and gives him the pledge of his hand and the sincerity of his heart, then he should obey him as much as he can."
Hadith 6816
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr."
Hadith 6817
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا
فِطْرٌ .
وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا فِطْرٌ ، عَنْ
مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الرَّحِمَ مُعَلَّقَةٌ بِالْعَرْشِ ، وَلَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ ، وَلَكِنَّ الْوَاصِلَ مَنْ إِذَا قَطَعَتْهُ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا " ، قَالَ يَزِيدُ : الْمُوَاصِلُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The womb (ties of kinship) is suspended with the Throne. The one who only reciprocates is not truly upholding the ties of kinship. Truly, the one who upholds the ties of kinship is the one who, when someone severs relations with him, he joins relations with them."

شَقِيقٍ .
وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ
مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاحِشًا وَلَا مُتَفَحِّشًا وَكَانَ ، يَقُولُ : " مِنْ خِيَارِكُمْ أَحَاسِنُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا " ، قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : " إِنَّ خِيَارَكُمْ أَحَاسِنُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was neither indecent by nature nor did he behave indecently deliberately, and he said: "The best among you are those who have the best character."
Hadith 6819
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is sufficient for a man to be considered sinful that he neglects those whose sustenance he is responsible for (such as weak parents and wife and children)."
Hadith 6820
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا
أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ
عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ
جَدِّهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَجَدَ تَحْتَ جَنْبِهِ تَمْرَةً مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَأَكَلَهَا ، فَلَمْ يَنَمْ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ نِسَائِهِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرِقْتَ الْبَارِحَةَ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ تَحْتَ جَنْبِي تَمْرَةً ، فَأَكَلْتُهَا ، وَكَانَ عِنْدَنَا تَمْرٌ مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found a date under his side. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it, then in the last part of the night he became restless, upon which the Noble Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) noble wife became anxious. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) comforted her, saying: "I found a date under my side which I ate. Now I fear that it might have been a date of charity."
Hadith 6821
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw two garments dyed with safflower on my body and said: "This is the clothing of the disbelievers, take it off."
Hadith 6822
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا
دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْفَرَّاءُ ، عَنْ
عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ
جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " لَا أُحِبُّ الْعُقُوقَ ، وَمَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُ مَوْلُودٌ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْسُكَ عَنْهُ فَلْيَفْعَلْ ، عَنِ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ مُكَافَأَتَانِ ، وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that someone asked the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about "Aqiqah." The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I do not like disobedience. Whoever wishes to offer a sacrifice on behalf of his child should slaughter two equal goats for a boy and one goat for a girl."
Hadith 6823
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr."
Hadith 6824
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon: "And he placed his back against the Ka'bah..." Then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
Hadith 6825
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ،
وإسحاق يعنى الأزرق ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا
سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ
عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنِ
الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يُبْتَلَى بِبَلَاءٍ فِي جَسَدِهِ ، إِلَّا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْحَفَظَةَ الَّذِينَ يَحْفَظُونَهُ : اكْتُبُوا لِعَبْدِي مِثْلَ مَا كَانَ يَعْمَلُ وَهُوَ صَحِيحٌ ، مَا دَامَ مَحْبُوسًا فِي وَثَاقِي " ، قال عبد الله بن أحمد : قَالَ أبي : وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : اكْتُبُوا لِعَبْدِي فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whenever any person among the people suffers any physical harm, Allah commands His guardian angels to continue writing all the good deeds that My servant used to do every day and night, as long as he remains in My protection."

Hadith 6827
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No Muslim should be killed in exchange for a disbeliever, nor should a dhimmi be killed during the period of his covenant."

Hadith 6830
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed both the one who takes and the one who gives a bribe.
Hadith 6831
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are forty good deeds, the highest of which is giving a goat as a gift. Whoever acts upon any one of these good deeds, hoping for its reward and believing in Allah's promise, Allah will grant him entry into Paradise."
Hadith 6832

عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا
سَلِيمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ
سَعِيدِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ ، سَمِعْتُ
عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ " ، وحَدَّثَنَاه
عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا
سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا
سَعِيدُ بْنُ مِينَاءَ ، سَمِعْتُ
عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تَصُومُ النَّهَارَ ، وَتَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ ، فَلَا تَفْعَلْ ، فَإِنَّ لِجَسَدِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَظًّا ، وَلِعَيْنِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَظًّا ، وَلِزَوْجِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَظًّا ، صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ، فَذَلِكَ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِنَّ بِي قُوَّةً ، قَالَ : " صُمْ صَوْمَ دَاوُدَ ، صُمْ يَوْمًا ، وَأَفْطِرْ يَوْمًا " ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ ابْنُ عَمْرٍو ، يَقُولُ ، يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ أَخَذْتُ بِالرُّخْصَةِ ، وقَالَ عَفَّانُ ، وَبَهْزٌ : إِنِّي أَجِدُ بِي قُوَّةً .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "I have come to know that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night. Do not do so, for your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you, and your wife has a right over you. Fast only three days in every month; this will be equal to fasting all the time." I said, "I have strength for more than this." The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then adopt the way of Sayyiduna Dawud, peace be upon him: fast one day and leave one day." Later, Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "I used to do so. I wish I had accepted the concession of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him."
Hadith 6833
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance and said, "I have come to pledge allegiance to you for migration, and (I have made a great sacrifice that) I have left my parents weeping." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go back and make them laugh just as you made them weep." And he refused to accept his pledge of allegiance.
