It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you are three people, then two of you should not whisper to each other excluding the third, because this will cause grief to the third."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that even today that scene is preserved before my eyes when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was describing about a prophet whom his people had beaten, and he was wiping the blood from his face and kept saying: "O Lord! Forgive my people, for they do not know me." (This is a reference to the incident of Ta'if.)

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Guard yourselves against lying, for lying leads to sin and sin leads to the Fire. A person continues to lie and pursues falsehood until he is written with Allah as a «كذاب». And adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A person continues to speak the truth until he is written with Allah as a «صديق»."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Envy (desirous admiration) is not permissible except in two cases: one is the person whom Allah has granted wealth and He enables him to spend it in the right way, and the other is the person whom Allah has granted wisdom and he judges with it among the people and teaches it to others."
Hadith 4110
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about walking with a funeral procession. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It should be at a pace less than running, and the funeral should be followed, not leading (the funeral should be ahead and those walking should be behind it)."
Hadith 4111
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who strikes his cheeks, tears his collar, and calls with the call of ignorance."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O group of young men! Whoever among you has the ability to marry, he should get married, for marriage lowers the gaze and protects the private parts.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to participate in battles with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and there were no women with us. Once we said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Should we not get ourselves castrated? But the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us from doing so. Later, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted us, for a specific period, to marry women in exchange for garments. Then he recited this verse: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُحَرِّمُوا طَيِّبَاتِ مَا أَحَلَّ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَعْتَدُوا إِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ﴾» [المائدة : 87] "O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors."

Abu Musa Hilali narrates from his father that a man was on a journey, his wife gave birth to a child, milk accumulated in her breasts, and the husband began to suck it. In the process, some of the milk went down his throat. That man came to Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask about this issue. He said, "Your wife has become unlawful for you." Then he went to Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about this issue. He replied, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Only that suckling establishes prohibition which nourishes the flesh and strengthens the bones.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the Khutbah al-Hajah in this way: «إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ لِلّٰهِ نَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَنَعُوذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللّٰهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» “All praise is due to Allah, we seek help from Him and ask forgiveness from Him, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own selves. Whomever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomever He lets go astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger.” Then he recited the following three verses: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ﴾» [آل عمران : 102] “O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.” «﴿وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءَلُونَ بِهِ وَالْأَرْحَامَ إِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا﴾» [النساء : 1] “And fear Allah, through Whom you ask one another, and (respect) the ties of kinship. Surely Allah is ever watching over you.” «﴿اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا﴾» [الأحزاب : 70] “O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.”

Hadith 4117
Abdur Rahman bin Yazid says that on the occasion of Hajj, Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) stoned the Jamrah Aqabah with seven pebbles from the bottom of the valley while riding, and he said takbeer with every pebble. At that time, he kept the Jamrah Aqabah on his right side and faced towards the House of Allah. Then he said, "By Him besides whom there is no deity, that Being also stood here upon whom Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day I was present in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Recite the Qur'an to me." I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Should I recite it to you while it has been revealed to you? He said: "Yes, but I like to hear it from someone other than myself." So I began to recite, and when I reached this verse: «﴿فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا﴾» [النساء : 41] "How will it be when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you as a witness over them all?" I saw that the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were flowing with tears.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) was making this supplication: "O Allah! Grant me benefit from my noble husband, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), my father Abu Sufyan, and my brother Mu'awiyah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard her supplication and said: "You have asked Allah for a fixed term, a few numbered days, and apportioned sustenance. None of these things can come to you before their appointed time, nor can they be delayed beyond their fixed time. If you had supplicated to Allah to protect you from the punishment of Hell and the punishment of the grave, that would have been better and more virtuous." The narrator says that once it was mentioned before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that monkeys are the transformed form of humans. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah never left any progeny for the people whose forms He transformed; whereas monkeys and pigs have existed from before."

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that Allah's curse is upon the woman who plucks hair and the one who gets it plucked, the one who tattoos and the one who files her teeth for beauty. When a woman named Umm Ya'qub came to know of this, she came to him and said, "I have heard that you say this?" He replied, "Why should I not curse those whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) has cursed in the light of the Book of Allah?" The woman said, "By Allah! I have thoroughly examined the Mushaf between the two covers, and I have not found this command anywhere in it." Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Did you find this verse in it: «﴿وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا﴾» [الحشر : 7] 'Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, abstain from it'?" She said, "Yes!" He said, "Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) has forbidden these things." The woman said, "What if the women of your household do this?" Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "Go and see." The woman went to his house, then came back and said, "I did not find anything objectionable there." He said, "If it were so, my wife could not remain with me."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of people are those of my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. After that, there will come a people whose testimony will precede their oath, and whose oath will precede their testimony."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To associate someone with Allah, especially when it is Allah who created you." The questioner said: "After that, which sin is the greatest?" He said: "To commit adultery with your neighbor's wife."

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that I prefer to swear nine times that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was martyred, rather than swear once that he was not martyred, and the reason for this is that Allah made him His Prophet and also declared him a martyr.
Hadith 4140
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Surah Nasr was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he began to frequently make this supplication: «سُبْحَانَكَ اللّٰهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ اللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ» "O Allah! It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line before us and said, "This is the path of Allah." Then he drew some other lines to its right and left and said, "These are different paths, upon each of which there is a devil calling towards it." After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: «﴿وَأَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ﴾» [الأنعام : 153] "This is My straight path, so follow it, and do not follow other paths, for you will be separated from His path."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the beginning, we used to talk and greet each other during prayer, and would inform each other as needed. One day I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and greeted him, but he did not reply. Various thoughts, both new and old, surrounded me. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, he said, "Allah gives whatever new command He wishes. Thus, Allah has now revealed this new command that you should not talk during prayer."
