The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice, "By the Lord of the Ka'bah! Those people are in loss." A severe grief overtook me and as I tried to compose myself, I began to think that perhaps something new had happened concerning me. So I asked, "Who are those people? May my parents be sacrificed for you." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The wealthy, except for the one who distributes (his wealth) among the servants of Allah in such and such a way, but such people are very few. Whoever dies leaving behind goats, camels, or cows on which he did not pay zakat, they will come on the Day of Judgment healthier than before and will trample him with their hooves and gore him with their horns, until judgment is passed among the people. Then one animal after another will continue to come."

Jasrah bint Dajajah says that once she was going for Umrah. When she reached the place of Rabdhah, she heard Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in the Isha prayer. After the prayer, the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) stepped back and began to offer voluntary prayers. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), seeing this, returned to his tent. When he saw that the people had left, he came back to his place and began to offer voluntary prayers. I came from behind and stood behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to me with his right hand, so I went and stood on his right side. After a little while, Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) also came and stood behind us. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to him with his left hand, so he went and stood on the left side. In this way, the three of us stood in prayer, and each of us was offering his own prayer and reciting as much of the Holy Qur’an as Allah willed. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) kept repeating a single verse in his standing position until the time for Fajr prayer arrived. When morning came, I gestured to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about the action of the night, but he replied with a gesture of his hand that he would not ask the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) anything until he himself mentioned it. So, gathering courage, I myself said, “May my parents be sacrificed for you! You kept reciting a single verse of the Holy Qur’an all night, even though you have the entire Qur’an. If any one of us had done this, we would have been angry with him. If people find out, they will even stop praying.” I said, “Should I not give this glad tidings to the people?” The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Why not?” So I turned my neck and started to go, and had only gone as far as a stone could be thrown, when Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “If you send him with this message to the people, they will become heedless of worship.” Upon this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) called him back, and he returned. And that verse was: (إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ) “O Allah! If You punish them, they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, then surely You are the Mighty, the Wise.”

Abu Murthad says that I asked Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you ask the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the Night of Qadr?" He replied, "I was the one who asked the most about it. I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! Tell me, is the Night of Qadr in the month of Ramadan or in some other month?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'No, rather it is in the month of Ramadan.' I asked, 'Did it remain with the previous Prophets (peace be upon them) as long as they were Prophets, and when they passed away it was lifted, or will it remain until the Day of Resurrection?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'No! It will remain until the Day of Resurrection.' I asked, 'In which part of Ramadan does the Night of Qadr occur?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Seek it in the first ten or the last ten.' Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) began to narrate a hadith, and during this I was overcome by drowsiness. When I became alert, I asked, 'In which twenty nights does it occur?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Seek it in the last ten nights, and do not ask me any more questions.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) began to narrate a hadith again, and I was again overcome by heedlessness. When I became alert, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I ask you by the right I have over you, tell me in which ten nights it occurs?' At this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became so angry that since I had been in his company, I had never seen him so angry, and he said, 'Seek it in the last seven nights, and do not ask me any more questions.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that my beloved friend (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me regarding three things: (1) Listen and obey, even if a slave with cut-off limbs is appointed as your ruler; (2) When you prepare broth, increase its water, then look to your neighbors and deliver some of it to them in a good manner; (3) And perform the prayer at its appointed time, and when you see the imam has finished the prayer, then you have also completed your prayer, otherwise it will be considered a voluntary prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever drinks alcohol, his prayers are not accepted for forty days. Then if he repents, Allah accepts his repentance. If he drinks again, the same happens. (On the third or fourth time, he said:) Then it becomes incumbent upon Allah to make him drink the water of "Teenat al-Khabal." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is Teenat al-Khabal? He said: The pus of the people of Hell.
Hadith 21503
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah that I wish to spend this night with you and participate in your prayer. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You do not have the strength to do so. Nevertheless, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to perform ghusl, a cloth was put up as a curtain, and I sat turning my face away. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished ghusl and came out, I did the same. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to pray and I stood with him, until due to the length of the prayer, I began to bump my head against the walls. Then Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came for the prayer. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: Have you done it? He replied in the affirmative. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bilal! You give the adhan when the dawn appears in the sky, but that is not the real true dawn. The true dawn appears in a horizontal manner. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for suhoor and partook of it.
Hadith 21504
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was walking behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Shall I not tell you about a treasure from the treasures of Paradise?" I said, "Why not?" He said, "'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we observed the fasts of Ramadan with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform Qiyam (night prayer) with us for the entire month. When the 24th night came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Qiyam with us until about a third of the night had passed. When the next night came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform Qiyam with us again. On the 26th night, he performed such a long Qiyam with us that about half the night had passed. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! If only you would continue to lead us in prayer for the rest of the night?" It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that my beloved (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me regarding three things which, insha’Allah, I will never abandon. He advised me to perform the Duha prayer, to offer Witr before sleeping, and to fast three days every month.
Hadith 21519
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not consider any good deed insignificant, and if you cannot do anything else, then at least meet your brother with a cheerful face.

When you conquer it, treat its inhabitants well, for they have a covenant and kinship with you. So, when you see two men fighting over a brick's place there, leave that place. Then I saw Abdur Rahman bin Sharjeel and his brother Rabee'ah fighting each other over a brick's place, so I left that place.

Narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that we left our tribe Ghifar, and they used to consider even the sacred months as permissible. So I, my brother Anis, and our mother set out and we stayed with our maternal uncles who were very wealthy and in good condition. Our uncles honored us and treated us very well, because of which their people became jealous of us and said (to our uncles), "When you leave your family, Anis commits adultery with them." Our uncles came and accused us of what had been said to them. I said, "You have spoiled the kindness and goodness you did to us because of this accusation. Now, after this, our relationship and association with you cannot continue." So we went to our camels, loaded our belongings on them, and our uncles covered themselves with a cloth and started crying, and we set out until we reached near Mecca. Then Anis brought as many more camels among our camels, and I used to pray, O nephew, even three years before meeting the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Hazrat Abdullah bin Samit says, "I asked, 'For whose pleasure?' He said, 'For Allah's pleasure.' I asked, 'Which direction did you face?' He said, 'Wherever my Lord turned my face, I would perform the Isha prayer in that direction, until when the last part of the night came, I would lie down as if I were a sheet, until the sun rose high.' Anis said, 'I have some work in Mecca, so look after my affairs.' So Anis left until he reached Mecca, and after some time he returned. I asked, 'What did you do?' He said, 'I met a man in Mecca who is on your religion and claims that Allah has sent him (as a Messenger).' I asked, 'What do people say?' He said, 'People call him a poet, a soothsayer, and a magician.' And Anis himself was among the poets. Anis said, 'I have heard the words of soothsayers, but his speech is not like that of soothsayers. And indeed, I have compared his sayings with the poetry of poets, but no one's tongue has such poetry. By Allah! He is truthful and others are liars.' I said, 'You look after my affairs until I go and see.' So I came to Mecca and met one of their weak men and asked, 'Where is the one whom you call a Sabi?' So he pointed towards me and said, 'This is the one who has changed his religion.' As soon as the people of the valley heard this, they attacked me with stones and bones until I fell unconscious. When I regained consciousness, I was as if a red idol (covered in blood). I came to Zamzam, washed my blood, and drank its water, and O nephew! I stayed there for thirty nights and days, and I had no food except the water of Zamzam. So I became fat until even the folds of my stomach disappeared, and I did not feel any heat in my liver due to hunger. During this time, on a moonlit night, when the people of Mecca were asleep and no one was performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah except two women who were calling upon Isaf and Na'ilah (idols), when they came near me during their Tawaf, I said, 'Marry one (idol) to the other.' (Isaf was a man and Na'ilah was a woman, and according to the polytheists of Mecca, both were turned into idols while committing adultery.) But they did not desist from their words. When they came near me, I said without any hint or gesture, 'A stick in so-and-so's private part.' So they screamed and ran away quickly, wishing that someone from our people was present at that time. On the way, they met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) descending from the mountain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'What happened to you?' They said, 'Between the Ka'bah and its curtains, there is a man who has changed his religion.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'What did he say?' They said, 'He said something to us that fills the mouth.' Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with his companion, touched the Black Stone, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companion performed Tawaf, then offered prayer. Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says, 'I was the first person who greeted you (the Prophet) according to the way of Islam. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "And peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Who are you?" I said, "I am from the tribe of Ghif...

Abdullah bin Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I said to Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), "I wish I had seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so that I could have asked him just one question." He (Abu Dharr) said, "What question would you have asked him?" He (Abdullah) said, "I would have asked whether you have seen your Lord?" Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I have already asked him that question, and in response he said, 'I saw a light, how could I see Him?'"

Abdullah bin Samit says that once he was with Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) when his stipend arrived. He had a slave girl with him who began to arrange his necessities with that money. She had seven coins left. Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered her to exchange his money (to get change). I said to him, "If you had saved this money, it could have been useful in some need or when a guest arrived." He replied, "My beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me that any gold or silver that is sealed and kept is a spark of fire for its owner until he spends it in the way of Allah."
