Which mountain is this?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! This is Mount Uhud." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I do not like that this should turn into gold for me, from which I keep spending in the way of Allah and leave even a single qirat of it." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! A qintar?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times, "A qirat," then said, "Abu Dharr! I am talking about the least, not even about more."

Nuaim bin Qanab Riyahi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I went to the service of Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) but did not find him. I asked his wife, and she told me that he had gone to his land. After a short while, he came driving two camels. The saliva of one camel was falling on the haunch of its companion, and each of them had a water skin hanging from its neck. He took down both water skins, so I said, "O Abu Dharr! I never loved meeting anyone else as much as I loved meeting you, nor did I ever hate meeting anyone as much as I hated meeting you." He said, "Brother! How can these two things be combined?" I said, "In the days of ignorance, I buried a girl alive. I hoped that by meeting you, you would tell me a way of repentance and salvation (that is why I wished to meet you), but I also feared that you might say there is no way of repentance for me." Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Did you do this in the days of ignorance?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Allah has forgiven all past sins." Then, with a gesture of his head, he ordered his wife to bring food for me, but she did not pay attention. He told her again, but she still did not pay attention. Eventually, their voices were raised. Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Stay behind us; you cannot go beyond the limit that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has stated regarding you." I asked him, "What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say to you about them?" He mentioned this saying: "A woman is like a crooked rib; if you try to straighten her, you will break her, and if you leave her as she is, you will have to live with her crookedness and foolishness." Hearing this, she went back and after a while brought tharid prepared like "qatah." Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, "Eat and do not worry about me, for I am fasting." Then he stood up and began to pray, performing good but light bowings. I saw that he wanted to see me satisfied, but after a short while, he came and joined me in eating. Seeing this, I said, "Inna lillah." He asked, "What happened?" I said, "I could have suspected an ordinary person of lying to me, but I could not suspect you." He said, "By Allah! Since you met me, I have not lied to you." I said, "Did you not tell me that you were fasting, and now I see you eating?" He said, "Yes! I had already fasted three days in this month, for which the reward is established for me, and now eating with you is lawful for me."

Ibn Ahmas (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I met Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I have heard that you narrate a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Do not think for a moment that I would falsely attribute something to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when I have not heard it. Which hadith is it that you have heard attributed to me?" I said, "I have heard that you say there are three types of people whom Allah loves, and three types of people whom Allah dislikes?" He said, "Yes! I have said this, and I have heard it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." I asked, "Who are those whom Allah loves?" He replied, "One is the person who meets the enemy with a group and stands firm before them until he is martyred or his companions are granted victory. The second are those who set out on a journey, their journey becomes long, and they wish to camp in the evening in some area. When they camp, one of them moves aside and starts praying until, when it is time to depart, he wakes them up. The third is the person who has such a neighbor from whose proximity he suffers harm, but he patiently endures his neighbor's harm until death separates them." I asked, "Who are those whom Allah dislikes?" He replied, "The trader who swears oaths, the miser who reminds others of his favors, and the poor person who is arrogant."

Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah says that once I came to Hazrat Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him, "What wealth do you possess?" He replied, "My wealth is my deeds." I requested him to narrate a hadith, so he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If three minor children of a Muslim husband and wife die, Allah Almighty will forgive that husband and wife." I said, "Tell me another hadith." He said, "Alright. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among the Muslims spends two pairs from his wealth in the way of Allah, the gatekeepers of Paradise will come before him, and each of them will call him towards himself." I asked, "How can this status be attained?" He replied, "If there are many slaves, then free two slaves; if there are camels, then give two camels; and if there are cows, then give two cows."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I do not like that Uhud mountain be turned into gold for me and that when I depart from this world, even one or half a dinar remains with me, except if I keep it for the repayment of a debt. Rather, my desire is that I distribute it among the servants of Allah in such a way. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hands, filling them and pointing to the right, left, and in front. Then we set off again, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, those who possess abundant wealth will be the ones in loss, except for the one who spends it in this way. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again gestured with his hands to the right, left, and in front. We set off again, and when we reached a place, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Abu Dharr! Remain here until I return to you. Saying this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went off to one side until he disappeared from my sight. After a short while, I heard some sounds of commotion. I thought to myself that perhaps some incident had occurred with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I thought of going after the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but then I remembered his instruction not to move from here until he returned. So I waited for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until he returned. I mentioned to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the sounds I had heard. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That was Jibreel (peace be upon him) who came to me and said: Whoever from your Ummah dies in the state that he does not associate anyone with Allah, he will enter Paradise. Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked, even if he commits adultery or theft? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, even if he commits adultery or theft.

A man volunteered himself and, approaching the pond, struck him. Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing; first he sat down, then he lay down. Someone asked him, "O Abu Dharr! The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice, "By the Lord of the Ka'bah! Those people are in loss." A severe grief overtook me and as I tried to compose myself, I thought perhaps something new had happened concerning me. So I asked, "Who are those people? May my parents be sacrificed for you." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The wealthy, except for the one who distributes (his wealth) among the servants of Allah in such and such a way, but such people are very few. Whoever dies leaving behind goats, camels, or cows on which he did not pay zakat, they will come on the Day of Judgment healthier than before and will trample him with their hooves and gore him with their horns, until judgment is passed among the people. Then one animal after another will continue to come."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! All the reward and merit have been taken by the wealthy people; they pray, they fast, and they also perform Hajj." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You also do these acts." I said, "They give charity, but we cannot give charity." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You can also do this: removing a bone from the path is charity, guiding someone on the way is charity, helping a weak person with your strength is charity, clarifying the speech of a person who stammers is charity, and having intercourse with your wife is also charity." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Do we get reward even for fulfilling our 'desire'?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Tell me, if you were to do this act in a forbidden way, would you not be sinful?" I replied, "Yes." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You count the sin but do not count the good deed."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Fasting in the month of patience (Ramadan) and fasting three days in every month is like fasting all the time, and it removes malice from the chest. I asked, "What is meant by malice in the chest?" He replied, "Satanic filth."
Hadith 21365
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is fasting?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "An obligation which is to be fulfilled."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "O My servants! All of you are sinners except the one whom I grant well-being, so seek forgiveness from Me, I will forgive you. And whoever believes that I have the power to forgive and seeks forgiveness from Me through My power, I forgive him and do not mind. Each one of you is astray except the one whom I guide, so seek guidance from Me, I will grant you guidance. Each one of you is poor except the one whom I make rich, so seek richness from Me, I will grant you richness. If all of your first and last, living and dead, wet and dry, were to become like the heart of My most wicked servant, it would not decrease My kingdom by as much as the wing of a mosquito. And if all of them were to gather upon the heart of My most pious servant, it would not increase My kingdom by as much as the wing of a mosquito. If all of your first and last, living and dead, wet and dry, were to gather together and each one of them were to ask Me as much as his desire reaches, and I were to give each one what he asked for, it would not diminish My treasures any more than if one of you were to pass by the seashore, dip a needle into it, and then take it out—My kingdom would not be diminished by even that much. For I am exceedingly generous, majestic, and independent. My giving is by a single word, and My punishment also comes by a single word. When I intend something, I say 'Be,' and it comes into existence."
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "O My servant! However much you worship and hope from Me, I will forgive all your sins. O My servant! If you come to Me with sins filling the earth, but you do not associate anyone with Me, I will meet you with as much forgiveness. O My servants! All of you are sinners except the one whom I grant well-being..." Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith.
