It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a garden. A man came and greeted with salam. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go, give him permission to enter and also give him the glad tidings of Paradise." I went and found that it was Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). I said to him, "Please come inside and accept the glad tidings of Paradise." He kept praising Allah continuously and sat down in a place. Then another man came and he also greeted with salam. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Give him permission and glad tidings as well." I went and found that it was Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). I said to him, "Please come inside and accept the glad tidings of Paradise." He kept praising Allah continuously and sat down in a place. Then a third man came and he also greeted with salam. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go and give him permission as well, and give him the glad tidings of Paradise along with a trial." I went and found that it was Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). And so it happened.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will gather all the nations on a mound. When Allah begins the trial of all His creation, the image of that which they used to worship will appear before each step. They will begin to follow it and thus fall into Hell. Then our Lord will come to us while we will be on a high place. He will ask: Who are you? We will say: We are Muslims. He will say: Whom are you waiting for? We will say: We are waiting for our Lord. He will ask: If you see Him, will you recognize Him? We will say: Yes. He will say: When you have never seen Him, how will you recognize Him? We will say: Yes! There is nothing like Him. Then He will smile and manifest His glory before us and say: O Muslims! Rejoice, for there is not a single one among you for whom I have not placed a Jew or a Christian in Hell in his place.

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain, but at its beginning it is mentioned that ‘Umara Quraishi says: We went as a delegation to Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him), in which Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him) was also included. He fulfilled our needs and we left, but Hazrat Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him) went back to him. Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) asked: Has the Sheikh remembered something else? What has brought you back? Was your need not fulfilled? He replied: Yes! There is a hadith which my father narrated to me from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he narrated the aforementioned hadith. Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) asked: Did you really hear Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate this hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes! I heard my father narrate this hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Abu Burdah said: "Except for a hadith that my father narrated to me from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: 'Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will gather the nations on the Day of Resurrection,'" and he mentioned the hadith. Humaid bin Abdur Rahman says that there was a man named "Hammah" who was among the companions of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him). During the caliphate of Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), he set out for jihad towards Isfahan and made this supplication: O Allah! Hammah thinks that he desires to meet You. If Hammah is truthful, then fulfill his truthfulness and resolve, and if he is lying, then grant him his resolve even if he dislikes it. O Allah! Do not return Hammah from this journey. Thus, death overtook him and he passed away in Isfahan. Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: O people! Whatever we have heard from your Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) and as far as our knowledge reaches, it is that Hammah has been martyred.

And the example of a bad companion is like that of a blacksmith's furnace; even if it does not burn you, its heat and flames will still reach you.

Hattan bin Abdullah says that once Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) led his companions in prayer. During the prayer, when they sat in the "jalsa" (sitting position), someone said that prayer has been equated with virtue and zakat. After finishing the prayer, Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) turned towards the people and asked, "Who among you said this statement?" The people remained silent. He said to Hattan, "Hattan! Perhaps you said this sentence?" Hattan said, "By Allah! I did not say this sentence, and I was afraid that you might consider me foolish." Then a man spoke up and said, "I said the sentence, and I said it only with a good intention." Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Do you not know what should be recited in prayer? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once gave us a sermon, and in it, he clarified for us the Sunnahs and the method of prayer, and said: 'Keep your rows straight. Then, the one who knows more Qur'an should lead the prayer. When he says the takbeer, you also say the takbeer. When he says 'wa la ad-dalleen,' you say 'Ameen.' Allah will accept your supplication. When he says the takbeer and goes into ruku', you also say the takbeer and go into ruku', because the imam will bow before you and will raise his head before you; this is thus equal. When he says 'Sami' Allahu liman hamidah,' you say 'Rabbana lakal hamd.' Allah will accept your supplication, because Allah has said through the tongue of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that whoever praises Allah, Allah hears him. When he says the takbeer and goes into prostration, you also say the takbeer and prostrate, because the imam will prostrate before you and will raise his head before you; and this is also equal. When he sits in the final sitting (qa'dah), then first of all you should say: 'At-tahiyyatu-tayyibatu-salawatu-lillah, as-salamu 'alayka ayyuhan-nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, as-salamu 'alayna wa 'ala 'ibadillahis-saliheen, ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluh.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the men of the Ash'ari tribe, one of whom was on my right and the other on my left. At that time, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was using a miswak. Both of them asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a position. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Abu Musa! What do you say?" I replied, "By Him Who sent you with the truth, they did not inform me of their intention, nor did I think that they would request any position." That scene is still before my eyes when the miswak of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went under his lip. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "We do not give any position to one who asks us for it. However, O Abu Musa! You go." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent them to Yemen. Then he sent Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) after them. When Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived there, Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Please come," and arranged a cushion for him. There, a man was seen tied with ropes. Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "What is the matter with him?" They replied, "He was a Jew who accepted Islam, then turned back to his disliked religion and became a Jew again." Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I will not sit down until he is killed. This is the decision of Allah and His Messenger." (He said this three times.) So Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the order and he was killed. Then we began to talk about standing in prayer at night (Qiyam al-Layl). Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I sleep and I stand (in prayer), I stand (in prayer) and I sleep, and I hope for reward for my sleep just as I hope for reward for standing (in prayer)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to the area of my people. When the season of Hajj approached, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for Hajj, and I also attained the honor of performing Hajj. When I presented myself before him, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was encamped at Abtah. He asked me, "O Abdullah bin Qais! With what intention did you put on Ihram?" I replied, "Saying 'Labbayk for Hajj as the Hajj of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).'" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Very good. Tell me, did you bring a sacrificial animal with you?" I said, "No." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go and perform Tawaf of the House of Allah, perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and come out of Ihram." So I went and did as the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded. Then I went to a woman of my people, and she washed my head with 'khatmi' and looked for lice in my hair. Then, on the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah, I put on Ihram for Hajj. I continued to give people the same fatwa until the passing of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as he had commanded me. The same situation remained during the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). When the time of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, one day I was standing near the Black Stone and was telling people the same ruling that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had commanded me, when suddenly a man came and whispered to me, "Do not be hasty in giving this fatwa, because the Commander of the Faithful has issued some new rulings regarding the rites of Hajj." I said to the people, "O people! Whoever has received a fatwa from us regarding the rites of Hajj should wait, because the Commander of the Faithful is coming; you should follow him." Then when Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, I asked him, "O Commander of the Faithful! Have you issued any new rulings regarding the rites of Hajj?" He replied, "Yes! If we take the Book of Allah, it commands us to complete (the rites), and if we take the Sunnah of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he did not come out of Ihram until he had offered the sacrifice."
