مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَا

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : تَرَاءَيْنَا هِلَالَ رَمَضَانَ بِذَاتِ عِرْقٍ ، فَأَرْسَلْنَا رَجُلًا إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَسَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَدَّهُ إِلَى رُؤْيَتِهِ " .
Abu Al-Bakhtari says that once we were at Dhat ‘Irq when the moon of Ramadan was sighted. We sent a man to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) to ask him about this issue. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) extended it until the sighting of the moon.
