Musnad Ahmad 17635 — Hadith of al-Nawwas ibn Sam'an al-Kilabi
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ نَوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَبُرَتْ خِيَانَةً تُحَدِّثُ أَخَاكَ حَدِيثًا هُوَ لَكَ مُصَدِّقٌ ، وَأَنْتَ بِهِ كَاذِبٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Nawas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is a great betrayal that you say something to your brother, he considers you truthful, while you are lying to him."
