Musnad Ahmad 17432 — Hadith of Uqbah ibn Amir Al-Juhani
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، وَسُرَيْجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَاهُ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ سُرَيْجٌ : عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، وقَالَ هَارُونُ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ شُفَيٍّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ : " وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ سورة الأنفال آية 60 ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this verse on the pulpit: "And prepare against them whatever you are able of power," and then say: "Be aware! Power means archery." He said this sentence three times.
