Musnad Ahmad 17049 — The remainder of the hadith of Zayd ibn Khalid
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، مُطِرَ النَّاسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحُ ، قَالَ : " أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا مَا قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اللَّيْلَةَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : " مَا أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَى عِبَادِي نِعْمَةً إِلَّا أَصْبَحَ بِهَا قَوْمٌ كَافِرِينَ بِالَّذِي آمَنَ بِي " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), it rained one night. When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you not hear what your Lord said last night? Allah Almighty said: Whenever I bestow a blessing upon My servants, a group among them begins to show ingratitude for it and says that it rained upon us because of such-and-such star. Therefore, whoever believes in Me and praises Me for providing water, he believes in Me and rejects the stars. And whoever says that it rained upon us because of such-and-such star, he believes in the star and disbelieves in Me."
