Musnad Ahmad 15674 — Hadith of 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتَ جَنَازَةً فَقُمْ حَتَّى تُجَاوِزَكَ أَوْ قَالَ : قِفْ حَتَّى تُجَاوِزَكَ " , قَالَ : وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا رَأَى جَنَازَةً , قَامَ حَتَّى تُجَاوِزَهُ ، وَكَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مَعَ جَنَازَةٍ ، وَلَّى ظَهْرَهُ الْمَقَابِرَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi’ah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see a funeral procession, stand up until it passes by. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, when he saw a funeral procession, would stand up until it passed by, and when he accompanied a funeral, he would turn his back towards the other graves.
