Musnad Ahmad 11423 — Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى نَهَرٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالنَّاسُ صِيَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ صَائِفٍ مُشَاةً ، وَنَبِيُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " اشْرَبُوا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ " , قَالَ : فَأَبَوْا ، قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ ، إِنِّي أَيْسَرُكُمْ ، إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ " ، فَأَبَوْا ، قَالَ : فَثَنَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخِذَهُ ، فَنَزَلَ ، فَشَرِبَ ، وَشَرِبَ النَّاسُ ، وَمَا كَانَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We passed by a stream in which rainwater had collected. The people were fasting at that time. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Drink the water," but due to fasting, no one drank. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went ahead and drank the water himself. Seeing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), everyone then drank the water.
