حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ , حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي بْنَ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قََالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ , مَنْ تَرَكَ دَيْنًا أَوْ ضَيَاعًا فَإِلَيَّ , وَلَا ضَيَاعَ عَلَيْهِ , فَلْيُدْعَ لَهُ وَأَنَا وَلِيُّهُ , وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِلْعَصَبَةِ مَنْ كَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have more right over the believers than their own selves, so whoever leaves behind a debt or children, their care is my responsibility, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his heirs, whoever they may be.
