Musnad Ahmad 10498 — Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with)
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ , أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ , عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قََالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ بِضَالَّتِهِ فِي فَلَاةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ عَلَيْهَا طَعَامُهُ وَشَرَابُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant "when he repents" than a person who finds his mount which was lost in the desert, and on it are his food and drink.
قََالَ : وَقَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " إِذَا جَاءَنِي عَبْدِي شِبْرًا جِئْتُهُ بِذِرَاعٍ ، وَإِذَا جَاءَنِي بِذِرَاعٍ جِئْتُهُ بِبَاعٍ , وَإِذَا جَاءَنِي يَمْشِي جِئْتُهُ أُهَرْوِلُ " .
It is narrated with the previous chain that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah the Exalted said: When My servant comes near to Me by a handspan, I come near to him by a cubit; and when he comes near to Me by a cubit, I come near to him by the span of outstretched arms; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.
