Hadith 37141
٣٧١٤١ - حدثنا جعفر بن عون عن محمد بن إسحاق عن محمد بن إبراهيم ⦗٢٩٢⦘ عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "خيركم أطولكم أعمارا وأحسنكم أعمالا" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best among you are those whose lives are long and whose deeds are good.
Hadith 37142
٣٧١٤٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن طلحة بن يحيى قال: حدثني إبراهيم (١) بن محمد بن طلحة عن عبد اللَّه بن شداد قال: جاء ثلاثة (رهط) (٢) من بني (عذرة) (٣) إلى النبي ﷺ فأسلموا، قال: فقال النبي ﷺ: "من يكفيني هولاء؟ " قال: فقال طلحة: أنا، قال: فكانوا عندي، قال: فضرب على الناس بعث، قال: فخرج أحدهم فاستشهد، ثم ضرب بعث فخرج الثاني فيه فاستشهد، قال: وبقي الثالث حتى مات مريضا على فراشه، قال طلحة: فرأيت في النوم كأني أدخلت الجنة فرأيتهم أعرفهم بأسمائهم وسيماهم، قال: فإذا الذي مات على فراشه دخل أولهم، وإذا الثاني من (المستشهدين) (٤) على أثره، وإذا أولهم آخرهم، قال: فدخلني (من) (٥) ذلك، قال: فأتيت النبي ﷺ فذكرت ذلك له، فقال النبي ﷺ: " (ليس أحد عند اللَّه أفضل) (٦) من معمر يعمر في الإسلام لتهليله وتكبيره وتسبيحه وتحميده" (٧).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad that he says: Three people from the tribe of Banu Udhrah came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and accepted Islam. The narrator says: The Prophet asked, "Who will take care of these people on my behalf?" The narrator says: Hazrat Talha said, "I will." Talha says: So they stayed with me. He says that the people had to go on a journey. The narrator says: So one of them went out on a journey and was martyred. Then another journey came up, so the second man joined it and he too was martyred. The narrator says: The third man remained until he died on his bed due to illness. Hazrat Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then I saw in a dream that I had entered Paradise. I recognized those people by their names and signs. He says: So the man among them who had died on his bed entered Paradise before the other two. And the second martyr came after him. And the first martyr among them came last of all. The narrator says: Seeing this, a thought came to my heart. He says: I went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one has more virtue in the sight of Allah than the elderly person who spent his life in Islam, because he recited La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, Subhan Allah, and Alhamdulillah."
Hadith 37143
٣٧١٤٣ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين (عن زهير) (١) عن علي بن زيد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة عن أبيه قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: أي الناس أفضل؟ قال: "من طال عمره وحسن عمله"، قال: (فأي) (٢) الناس شر؟ قال: "من طال عمره وساء عمله" (٣).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakrah narrates from his father that he said: A man came to the service of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked: "Who among the people is the best?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good." The questioner asked: "Who among the people is the worst?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "The one whose life is long and whose deeds are bad."
Hadith 37144
٣٧١٤٤ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن عمرو بن مرة عن عمرو بن ميمون عن عبد اللَّه بن ربيعة عن عبيد بن خالد السلمي قال: (آخى) (١) رسول اللَّه ﷺ بين رجلين، فقتل أحدهما ومات الآخر بعده، فصلينا عليه، فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ما (قلتم) (٢)؟ " قالوا: دعونا اللَّه له: اللهم ألحقه بصاحبه، قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "فأين صلاته بعد (صلاته) (٣) وصيامه بعد (صيامه) (٤) وأين عمله بعد عمله؟ - (٥) شك في الصوم- والعمل الذي بينهما كما بين السماء والأرض" (٦).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubaid bin Khalid Salmi that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, established brotherhood between two men. Then one of them was killed (in the way of Allah) and the other died afterwards. Then we offered his funeral prayer. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, asked: "What did you say?" The companions, may Allah be pleased with them, said: We prayed for him, saying: O Allah! Unite him with his companion. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then where will his prayers go after (the first one)? And where will his fasts go after his fasts? And where will his deeds go after his deeds?" The narrator is doubtful about the mention of fasts. "The deeds between the two of them are like the distance between the earth and the sky."
Hadith 37145
٣٧١٤٥ - حدثنا بن علية عن أيوب عن عكرمة قال: قال العباس: لأعلمن ما (بقاء) (١) رسول اللَّه ﷺ فينا فقلت يا رسول اللَّه لو اتخذت عريشًا؟ فكلمت الناس فإنهم قد آذوك، قال: "لا أزال بين أظهرهم يطؤون عقبي، وينازعوني ردائي ويصيبني غبارهم، حتى يكون اللَّه يريحني منهم" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ikrimah that he says Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will certainly tell you how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to live among us. I submitted: O Messenger of Allah! If you would set up a canopy and then talk to the people, because people cause you trouble. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will continue to remain among them. These people will keep trampling my heels and will keep disputing with me inside my cloak, and their dust will keep reaching me until Allah Almighty grants me relief from them."
Hadith 37146
٣٧١٤٦ - حدثنا يحيى بن (أبي) (١) بكير قال: أخبرنا (مستلم) (٢) بن (سعيد) (٣) الواسطي عن منصور بن زاذان عن الحسن قال: كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ (يؤاسي) (٤) الناس بنفسه حتى جعل يرفع إزاره بالأدم، وما جمع بين عشاء وغداء ثلاثة أيام، ولا، حتى قبضه اللَّه (٥).
It is narrated from Hasan that he said: The Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to comfort people through his own example. He would even patch his lower garment with leather, and until his passing, he never gathered food for morning and evening for three consecutive days.
Hadith 37147
٣٧١٤٧ - حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن بهز بن حكيم عن أبيه عن جده قال: قلت: يا رسول اللَّه هذا ديننا؟ قال: "هذا دينكم وأينما (تحسن) (١) (يكفك) (٢) " (٣).
Hazrat Bahz bin Hakeem narrates from his father, from his grandfather, who says: I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Is this our religion?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "This is your religion. However beautifully you practice it, it will suffice for you."
Hadith 37148
٣٧١٤٨ - حدثنا يحيى بن (أبي) (١) بكير قال: حدثنا زهير بن محمد عن خالد بن سعيد عن المطلب بن حنطب أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ قال: "من قال: قبح اللَّه (الدنيا) (٢)، قالت الدنيا: قبح اللَّه أعصانا له" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Mutlib bin Hantab that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever says, 'May Allah curse the world,' the world says, 'May Allah curse the person who is disobedient to Allah.'"
Hadith 37149
٣٧١٤٩ - حدثنا يحيى بن يمان عن سفيان عن (نسطاس) (١) عن سعيد المقبري أن النبي ﷺ قال: "خير الناس من يرجى خيره ويؤمن شره، وشر الناس من لا يرجى خيره ولا يؤمن شره" (٢). (زهد الصحابة ﵃ (٣)
It is narrated from Hazrat Saeed Al-Maqbari that the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best person among the people is the one from whom good is expected and people are safe from his evil, and the worst person among the people is the one from whom good is not expected and people are not safe from his evil."
