Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 8739 — Those who used to pray on their mounts
٨٧٣٩ - حدثنا ابن علية عن هشام الدستوائي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن محمد ابن عبد الرحمن عن جابر قال: كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يصلي على راحلته نحو المشرق فإذا أراد أن يصلي المكتوبة نزل فاستقبل القبلة (١).
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray voluntary prayers on his mount facing east, and when he wanted to perform an obligatory prayer, he would dismount and face the qiblah.
