Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 4413 — Those who disliked passing a verse

Ata bin al-Sa'ib said: Once I entered the mosque and there were two old men sitting, one of whom was reciting the Qur'an to the other. I sat down with them. One of them was Qays bin al-Sakan al-Asadi, and the other was reciting Surah Maryam to him. When he reached the verse of prostration, Qays bin al-Sakan said: "Leave it, for we dislike that the people of the mosque should see us." So he left it and recited what came after it. Then Qays said: "By Allah, it was Satan who prompted us to leave that verse. Recite it." So he recited it, and we prostrated.
