Abu Wa'il narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "What will your condition be at the time when a tribulation continually overcomes you, in which the young will grow up and the old will grow aged? These people will regard it as Sunnah, and if anything of it is changed, it will be said: 'The Sunnah has been changed.'" The people said: "When will this occur, O Abu Abd al-Rahman?" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When your reciters become many and your trustworthy ones become few, your commanders become many and your jurists become few, and this world is sought through the deeds of the Hereafter."
