Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 39721 — Reports on the conquest of Makkah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was a partner of his (peace and blessings be upon him) in trade before (the coming of) Islam. On the day of the Conquest of Makkah he came to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Welcome, my brother and my (trading) partner, who neither deceived nor argued! O Sa'ib, you used to do some (good) deeds in the days of ignorance that were not accepted from you. Today those deeds will be accepted from you." And he was a man of past good deeds and of maintaining family ties.
