Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 25921 — Domestic donkeys

It is narrated from al-Shaybani; he said: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) about domestic donkeys, and he said: We were struck by severe hunger on the day of Khaybar, while we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We came upon donkeys belonging to some people that had come out of the town, so we slaughtered them. Our pots were boiling when the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out: Overturn the pots, and do not eat anything of the meat of donkeys.
