Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 11632 — Those who permitted a woman

Jabbar al-Ta'i said: I attended the funeral of the mother of Mus'ab bin al-Zubayr, and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was there, riding a she-donkey of his. He passed by and came alongside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). The narrator said: They heard the voices of women shrieking and wailing, so I said to Ibn Abbas: "O Abu al-Abbas, this is being done here and you are still present here?" He said: "O Jabbar, keep yourself away from us (we are not answerable for it); indeed it is Allah Almighty who causes laughter, and it is Allah who causes weeping."
