حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَسُولُ مَرْوَانَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ إِلَى أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ قَالَ: فَقَالَتْ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ كَبِرْتُ وَقَدْ سَقِمْتُ، فَهَلْ عَمَلٌ يُجْزِئُ عَنِّي مِنْ حَجَّتِي؟ فَقَالَ: «عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تُجْزِئُ عَنْكِ»
The messenger of Marwan, whom he had sent to Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her), reported that Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who has grown old and fallen ill; is there any deed that can stand in place of my Hajj for me?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Performing Umrah in Ramadan will suffice for you."
حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا يَعْدِلُ الْحَجَّ؟ قَالَ: «عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "What deed is equal to Hajj?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj."
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْقِلٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ، أَسَدِ خُزَيْمَةَ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلَكَ أَبُو مَعْقِلٍ، وَكَانَ لَنَا جَمَلٌ، وَأَوْصَى بِهِ أَبُو مَعْقِلٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، قَالَ: «هَلَّا خَرَجْتِ عَلَيْهِ يَعْنِي فِي الْحَجِّ»
Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Ma'qil has passed away, and we had a camel about which Abu Ma'qil made a bequest that it be in the path of Allah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not set out on it?" meaning for Hajj.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي الدُّمَيْكِ الْمُسْتَمْلِي، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: «كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ رَكِبَ مَعَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ إِلَى أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، وَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ النَّاسِ مَعَهُ حِينَ حَدَثَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ»
Abu Bakr bin Abd al-Rahman bin al-Harith bin Hisham narrates: I was among those who rode with Marwan bin al-Hakam to Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her), and when this hadith was narrated, I was among the people who went in to her with Marwan.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، أَنَّهَا جَعَلَتْ عَلَيْهَا أَنْ تَحُجَّ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ تَهَيَّأْ لَهَا، فَسَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا يُجْزِئُهَا؟ فَقَالَ: «عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) that she had made it binding on herself to perform Hajj with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but it did not become possible for her. So she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "What will suffice for me?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umrah in Ramadan."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: تَجَهَّزْتُ لِلْحَجِّ، فَعَرَضَ لِي، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اعْتَمِرِي فِي رَمَضَانَ، فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ كَحَجَّةٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: "I had prepared for Hajj, but an obstacle came up." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Perform Umrah in Ramadan, for an Umrah in it is like a Hajj."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَتْ: مَاتَ أَبُو مَعْقِلٍ وَتَرَكَ بَعِيرًا جَعَلَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا مَعْقِلٍ هَلَكَ وَتَرَكَ بَعِيرًا جَعَلَهُ فِي السَّبِيلِ وَعَلَيَّ حَجَّةٌ؟ فَقَالَ: «يَا أُمَّ مَعْقِلٍ حُجِّي عَلَى بَعِيرَكِ، فَإِنَّ الْحَجَّ مِنْ سَبِيلِ اللهِ»
Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Abu Ma'qil passed away and left a camel which he had dedicated to the path of Allah. So I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Ma'qil has passed away and left a camel which he had dedicated to the path of Allah, and I have a Hajj due upon me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Ma'qil, perform Hajj on your camel, for Hajj is also part of the path of Allah."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ، مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ مَعْقِلٍ قَالَتْ: أَرَدْتُ الْحَجَّ فَضَلَّ بَعِيرِي، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «اعْتَمِرِي فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، أَنَّ عُمْرَةً فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً»
A woman of Banu Asad, who was called Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: I intended to perform Hajj, but my camel went astray, so I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform Umrah in the month of Ramadan, for an Umrah in the month of Ramadan is equal to a Hajj."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصُّورِيُّ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ وَلِي جَمَلٌ أَعْجَفُ، فَقَالَ: «اعْتَمِرِي فِي رَمَضَانَ، فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِي رَمَضَانَ كَحَجَّةٍ»
Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have vowed to perform Hajj, and I have an emaciated camel." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform Umrah in Ramadan, for an Umrah in Ramadan is like a Hajj."
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا أَبِيُ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أُمِّ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ وَجَمَلِي أَعْجَفُ، فَقَالَ: «اعْتَمِرِي فِي رَمَضَانَ، فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِي رَمَضَانَ كَحَجَّة»
Sayyidah Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I want to perform Hajj, but my camel is emaciated." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform Umrah in Ramadan, for an Umrah in Ramadan is like a Hajj."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اعْتَمِرِي فِي رَمَضَانَ، فَإِنَّهَا تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً»
A woman who was called Umm Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform Umrah in Ramadan, for it is equal to a Hajj."
