It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Aws al-Bahziyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she clarified some ghee of hers and put it in a small leather container ('ukkah), then gave it as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it, took what was in it, and prayed for blessing for her. Then the people returned the container to her, and it was full of ghee, so she thought that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had not accepted it. So she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) crying. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell her what actually happened." So she kept eating from it for the rest of the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and through the caliphates of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna Umar and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them), until what happened between Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with them both) took place.
