حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَقِيلٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، ثنا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَالَتْ: خَطَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا بِي عَنْكَ رَغْبَةٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَلَكِنْ لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ وَبَنِيَّ صِغَارٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لِمَ؟ خَيْرُ نِسَاءٍ رَكِبْنَ الْإِبِلَ نِسَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ أَحْنَاهُ عَلَى طِفْلٍ فِي صِغَرِهِ، وَأَرْعَاهُ عَلَى بَعْلٍ فِي ذَاتِ يَدِهِ»
Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me a proposal of marriage, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have no lack of desire for you, but I do not wish to marry while my children are small. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why so? The best of the women who ride camels are the women of Quraysh: the most compassionate towards a child in his childhood, and the most careful of a husband's wealth."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الثُّمَالِيِّ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ، قَالَتْ: دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «عِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ؟» ، قُلْتُ: لَا، إِلَّا كِسَرٌ يَابِسَةٌ وَخَلٌّ، فَقَالَ: «مَا أَفْقَرَ أَهْلَ بَيْتٍ مِنْ أُدْمٍ فِيهِ خَلٌّ»
Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me and said: "Do you have anything?" I said: No, except some dry pieces of bread and vinegar. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A house in which there is vinegar as a condiment is never in need."
