حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، فَقَالَتْ: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟، فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَالَتْ: فَمَنْ أُمُّكَ؟ قُلْتُ: رَيْطَةُ بِنْتُ عَلِيٍّ أَوْ فُلَانَةُ بِنْتُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَالَتْ: مَرْحَبًا بِكَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، قُلْتُ: جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكِ عَنْ وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصِلُنا، ويَزُورُنا وَكَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فِي هَذَا الْإِنَاءِ، وَفِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْإِنَاءِ، وَهُوَ نَحْوٌ مِنْ مُدٍّ قَالَتْ: «فَكَانَ يَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ يُمَضْمِضُ، وَيَسْتَنْشِقُ، ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، وَيَمْسَحُ بِأُذُنَيْهِ ظَاهِرِهِمَا، وَبَاطِنِهِمَا، وَيَغْسِلُ قَدَمَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا» ،
Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I went to Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her), and she asked: "Who are you?" I said: "I am Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil bin Abi Talib." She asked: "Who is your mother?" I said: "Raytah bint Ali," or (he said:) "so-and-so bint Ali bin Abi Talib." She said: "Welcome to you, O son of my brother!" I said: "I have come to ask you about the ablution (wudu) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." She said: "Yes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to keep ties with us and visit us, and he would perform ablution from this vessel or a vessel like it, and it holds about one mudd." She said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) would wash his hands, then rinse his mouth and sniff water into his nose, then wash his face three times, then wash his arms three times, then wipe his head twice, and wipe the inner and outer parts of his ears, and wash his feet three times each."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ
A hadith like this is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) concerning the ablution (wudu) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، «فَسَكَبْتُ لَهِ طَهُورًا فَمَضْمَضَ، وَاسْتَنْشَقَ، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ بَدَأَ بِمُؤَخَّرِهِ قَبْلَ مُقَدَّمِهِ، وَمَسَحَ مُؤَخِّرَ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَأَدْخَلَ أَصْبُعَيْهِ فِي جُحْرِ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra al-Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house, and I poured out water for ablution for him (peace and blessings be upon him). "He (peace and blessings be upon him) rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose, washed his face three times, washed his forearms three times each, and wiped his head twice, beginning with the back of the head and then coming to the front; he wiped the back of his ears and put his fingers into the openings of his ears, and washed his feet three times each."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، «يَأْتِينَا فَنَأْتِيهِ بِمِيضَأَةٍ لَنَا فِيهَا مَاءٌ يَأْخُذُ بِمُدِّ الْمَدِينَةِ مُدًّا وَنِصْفًا أَوْ ثُلُثَا، فَأَصُبُّ عَلَيْهِ فَيَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَيُمَضْمِضُ، وَيَسْتَنْشِقُ، وَيَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَمْسَحُ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً، وَيَمْسَحُ بِأُذُنَيْهِ ظَاهِرِهِمَا وَبَاطِنِهِمَا، ويُطَهِّرُ قَدَمَيْهِ»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house, we would bring him (peace and blessings be upon him) our ablution vessel, which held water amounting to one and a half mudd, or one and a third mudd, by the mudd of Madinah. "I would pour water from it over him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would wash his hands three times, rinse his mouth, sniff water into his nose, wash his face three times, wipe his head once, wipe the inner and outer parts of his ears, and purify his feet."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالُوا: ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: أَرْسَلَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ إِلَى الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ أَسْأَلُهَا عَنْ وُضُوءِ، رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَتَوَضَّأُ عِنْدَهَا فَأَتَيْتُهَا فَسَأَلْتُهَا فَأَخْرَجَتْ إِلَيَّ إِناءًا، وَذَلِكَ نَحْوًا مِنْ مُدٍّ، وَرُبُعٍ بِالْهَاشِمِيِّ فَقَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَخْرِجُ لَهُ وَضُوءَهُ فِي هَذَا فَيَبْدَأُ فَيُفْرِغُ عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى، فَيَغْسِلُهَا ثَلَاثًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخِلُهَا فِي الْإِنَاءِ، ثُمَّ يُمَضْمِضُ، وَيَسْتَنْثِرُ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَغْسِلُ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثًا، وَيَغْسِلُ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ رَأْسَهُ مُقْبِلًا وَمُدْبِرًا، وَوَصَفَ سُفْيَانُ كَيْفَ يَمْسَحُ رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى بَلَغَ أَوَّلَهُ، هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ، وَزَادَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: وَزَادَنِي فِيهِ ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: قَالَتِ الرَّبِيعُ: ثُمَّ مَسَحَ صُدْغَيْهِ، وعَارِضَيْهِ، ثُمَّ رَدَّهُمَا إِلَى وَسَطِهِ، ثُمَّ مَدَّهُما إِلَى قَفَاهُ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ أُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ رِجْلَيْهِ "
Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ali bin al-Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) sent me to al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask her about the ablution (wudu) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution at her house. So I came to her and asked her, and she brought out a vessel to me which held about one and a quarter mudd of water by the Hashimi measure, and said: "I used to bring out his (peace and blessings be upon him) ablution water in this. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would first pour water on his right hand and wash it three times before putting it into the vessel, then rinse his mouth and clean his nose three times, wash his face three times, wash his right hand three times and his left hand three times, then wipe his head towards the front and the back." Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) described and demonstrated how he (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his head, until he reached its starting point. These are the words of the hadith of Ibn Abi Umar, and Ibn Abi Umar added in his hadith that Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Ajlan narrated to me from Ibn Aqil this addition, that al-Rubayyi' (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would wipe his temples and his cheeks, then bring them (his hands) back to the middle of his head, then extend them to the nape of his neck, then wipe his ears, then wash his feet."
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ مُقَدَّمَ أُذُنَيْهِ وَمُؤَخَّرَهُمَا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and wiped the front and back of his ears.
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ بِفَضْلِ مَا كَانَ فِي يَدِهِ فَبَدَأَ بِمُؤَخَّرِ رَأْسِهِ، ثُمَّ جَرَّهُ إِلَى مُقَدَّمِهِ، ثُمَّ جَرَّهُ إِلَى مُؤَخِّرِهِ "
It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his head with the water remaining in his hand, beginning with the back of his head, then drawing it to the front, then drawing it back again to the back.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution washing the limbs three times each.
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَأْتِينَا فَيُكْثِرُ قَالَتْ: «فَأَتَانَا فَوَضَعْنَا لَهُ الْمِيضَأَةَ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ، وَاسْتَنْشَقَ مَرَّةً، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ بِمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ وَضُوئِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ يَبْدَأُ بِمُؤَخَّرِهِ، ثُمَّ رَدَّ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى نَاصِيَتِهِ، وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit us often. "When he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, we would set out the ablution vessel for him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution: he would wash his palms three times, then rinse his mouth and sniff water into his nose once, wash his face three times, wash his forearms three times, and wipe twice with the water remaining from his ablution, beginning with the back of the head, then bringing his hands back to his forelock, and he would wash his feet three times each."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، قَالَتْ: وَضَّأْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِمِيضَأَةٍ تَسَعُ مُدًّا أَوْ مُدًّا وَثَلَاثًا، فَقَالَ: «اسْكُبِي» فَتَوَضَّأَ، وَمَسَحَ مُقَدَّمَ رَأْسِهِ، وَمَسَحَ ظَاهَرَ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَبَاطِنَهُمَا "
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I helped the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform ablution. I brought him (peace and blessings be upon him) a vessel that held one mudd, or one mudd and three (measures), of water, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pour." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution, wiped the front of his head, and wiped the outer and inner parts of his ears.

Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house. "He (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution, wiped the front of his head, and wiped the outer and inner parts of his ears."
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الرُّبَيِّعَ بِنْتَ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، تَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِينَا، «وَكُنْتُ أَسْكُبُ لَهُ وَضُوءًا فَيَتَوَضَّأُ عِنْدَنَا فِي مِيضَأَةٍ لَنَا قَدْرَ مُدٍّ وَنِصْفٍ، وَمُدٍّ وَثُلُثٍ، وَكُنْتُ أَسْكُبُ عَلَى كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ أَضَعُهَا لَهُ فَيَتَمَضْمَضُ، وَيَسْتَنْشِقُ، وَيَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَمْسَحُ رَأْسَهُ وَأُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ رِجْلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to our house. "I would pour out water for ablution for him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution at our house from our vessel, which held one and a half mudd or one and a third mudd of water. I would pour water over his (peace and blessings be upon him) palms three times, then set the vessel down before him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would rinse his mouth, sniff water into his nose, wash his face three times, wash his hands three times, wipe his head and ears, then wash his feet three times each."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، ثنا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ فِي نَفَرٍ فَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنْ وُضُوءِ، رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: «نَعَمْ تَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نَحْوِ هَذَا الْإِنَاءِ، وَهِيَ تُشِيرُ بِيَدِهَا إِلَى رَكْوَةٍ تَأْخُذُ مُدًّا وَثُلُثًا بِالْأَوَّلِ فِيمَا أَرَى فَمَضْمَضَ، وَاسْتَنْشَقَ، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ مُقَدَّمَ رَأْسِهِ وَمُؤَخَّرَهُ، وَمَسَحَ أُذُنَيْهِ مَعَ مُؤَخَّرِ رَأْسِهِ، وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ»
Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil said: A group of us went to Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about the ablution (wudu) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: "Yes, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution from a vessel like this" — and she was pointing with her hand to a small vessel which, as I think, held one and a third mudd of water by the old measure — "He (peace and blessings be upon him) rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose, washed his face and hands three times, then wiped the front and back of his head, wiped his ears together with the back of his head, and washed his feet."
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَأْتِينَا فَحَدَّثَتْنَا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «اسْكُبِي وَضُوءًا» فَسَكَبْتُ لَهُ فِي مِيضَأَةٍ وَهِيَ الرَّكْوَةُ تَأْخُذُ مُدًّا وَثُلُثًا، أَوْ مُدًّا وَرُبْعًا مِنَ الْمَاءِ، فَقَالَ: «اسْكُبِي عَلَى يَدِي» فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: ضَعِي قَالَتْ: فَتَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ فَوَضَّأَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَمَضْمَضَ، وَاسْتَنْشَقَ مَرَّةً، وَوَضَّأَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثًا، وَوَضَّأَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ يَبْدَأُ بِمُؤَخَّرِ رَأْسِهِ، ثُمَّ بِمُقَدَّمِهِ، وَبِأُذُنَيْهِ كِلْتَيْهِمَا ظُهُورِهِمَا وَبُطُونِهِمَا، وَوَضَّأَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثًا، وَوَضَّأَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى ثَلَاثًا "
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to our house. She told us that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pour out water for ablution." So I poured water for him (peace and blessings be upon him) into a vessel which held one and a third, or one and a quarter, mudd of water. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pour it on my hand." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his palms three times, then said: "Put it down." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution while I watched: he (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face three times, rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose once, washed his right hand three times and his left hand three times, and wiped his head twice, beginning with the back of the head and then coming to the front; he wiped the front and back of both his ears, and washed his right foot three times and his left foot three times.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَأْتِينَا فَآخُذُ مِيضَأَةً لَنَا قَدْرَ مُدٍّ وَنِصْفٍ، أَوْ مُدٍّ وَثُلُثٍ فَأَسْكُبُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَيَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَتَمَضْمَضُ، وَيَسْتَنْشِقُ، وَيَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَمْسَحُ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ رِجْلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to our house. "I would take our ablution vessel, which held one and a half mudd or one and a third mudd of water, and pour water from it over him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would wash his hands three times, rinse his mouth, sniff water into his nose, wash his face three times, wipe his head twice, then wash his feet three times each."
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالَا: ثنا اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَوَضَّأَ عِنْدَهَا فَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ كُلَّهُ مِنْ فَوْقِ الشَّعْرِ، كُلُّ نَاحِيَةٍ لِمُنْصَبِّ الشَّعْرِ لَا يُحَرِّكُ الشَّعْرَ عَنْ هَيْئَتِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution at her house. He (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his head; he wiped the whole of his head over the hair, on every side in the direction in which the hair falls, without moving the hair out of its arrangement.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْباعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ مُضَرَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَنَّ الرُّبَيِّعَ بِنْتَ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا، رَأَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ، قَالَتْ: «فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ مَا أَقْبَلَ مِنْهُ، وَمَا أَدْبَرَ، وَصُدْغَيْهِ، وَأُذُنَيْهِ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) related that she saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution. She said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped the front and back of his head, and his temples and ears, a single time."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، قَالَتْ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَلَأَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ ثُمَّ أَكْفَأَهُ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مُقَدَّمِهِ، وَمُؤَخَّرِهِ، ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَى وَسَطِ رَأْسِهِ فَمَسَحَ، وَأَخَذَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى رَأْسِهِ فَمَسَحَ أُذُنَيْهِ دَاخِلَهُمَا، وَخَارِجَهُمَا، وَأَخَذَ شَحْمَةَ أُذُنَيْهِ
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fill his palms with water, then pour it out, then wipe the front and back of his head, then come back to the middle of the head and wipe it; then he took his hands from his head and wiped the inside and outside of his ears, and he also took hold of his earlobes.
حَدَّثَنَا النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ الْقَاضِي، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَأُتِيَ بِإِنَاءٍ يَسَعُ مُدًّا وَثُلُثًا، أَوْ مُدًّا وَنِصْفًا مِنْ مُدِّ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فَتَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَمَسَحَ مُؤَخَّرَ رَأْسِهِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ وَسَطَهُ فِي كُلِّ مَسْحَةٍ» ،
It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her house and asked for water for ablution, and a vessel was brought which held one and a third, or one and a half, mudd of water by the mudd of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). "He (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution: he washed his face, then washed his hand, wiped his head, and wiped the back of his head, reaching the middle of the head in every wipe."
حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ الزَّيَّاتُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ
A hadith like this is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) concerning the ablution (wudu) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الرُّبَيِّعَ بِنْتَ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، تَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَوَضَّأَ فَأَخَذَ لِرَأْسِهِ ماءًا جَدِيدًا أَدْبَرَ بِيَدَيْهِ، وَأَقْبَلَ بِهِمَا»
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform ablution; he took fresh water for his head and passed both his hands towards the back and then towards the front.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ سُورَةَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا طَالِبُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ الْأَذَنِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى زَحْمَوَيْهِ، قَالُوا: ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، قَالَتْ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: بِقِنَاعٍ مِنْ رُطَبٍ، وَأَجْرٍ زُغْبٍ فَأَعْطَانِي مِلْءَ كَفِّي حُلِيًّا أَوْ ذَهَبًا
Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a tray of fresh dates and soft, tender cucumbers, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a palmful of jewellery or gold.
