حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ نُدْبَةَ، مَوْلَاةٍ لِمَيْمُونَةَ، قَالَتْ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَرْسَلَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ إِلَيْهِ، فَإِذَا فِي بَيْتِهِ فِرَاشَانِ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مَيْمُونَةَ فَقُلْتُ: مَا أَرَى ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ إِلَّا مُهَاجِرًا لِأَهْلِهِ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ إِلَى بِنْتِ مِشْرَحٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ امْرَأَةِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ تَسْأَلُهَا، فَقَالَتْ: لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ هِجْرَةٌ، وَلَكِنِّي حَائِضٌ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَتَرْغَبُ عَنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَدْ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَاشِرُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ حَائِضًا تَكُونُ عَلَيْهَا الْخِرْقَةُ إِلَى الرُّكْبَةِ أَوْ إِلَى أَنْصَافِ الْفَخِذِ» ، وَذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ مَوْلَى عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ نُدْبَةَ
Nudbah, the freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), said: I went to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both); Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) had sent me to him. I saw that there were two (separate) beds in his house. So I returned to Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: I think that Ibn Abbas has cut himself off from his wife. So Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent a message to the wife of Ibn Abbas, the daughter of Mishrah al-Kindi, asking her, and she said: There is no estrangement between me and him; rather, I am menstruating. So Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent a message to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): Do you turn away from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to touch any of his wives while she was menstruating, with a cloth wrapped around her up to the knee or to the middle of the thigh.

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ مَوْلَاةٍ لِمَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَتْ: أَرْسَلَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَرَأَيْتُ فِرَاشَهُ مُعْتَزِلًا عَنْ فِرَاشِ امْرَأَتَهِ، وَعِنْدَهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِنْتُ مِشْرَحٍ، فَقَالَتْ: مَا بَالُكَ؟ قَالَتْ: هَكَذَا يَصْنَعُ بِي إِذَا حِضْتُ، قَالَتْ: فَأَتَيْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا، قَالَ: وَقَالَتْ: فَأَرْسَلَتْنِي إِلَيْهِ: مَا الَّذِي تَصْنَعُ؟ لَقَدْ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَاشِرُ إِحْدَانَا وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ وَمَا عَلَيْهَا إِلَّا إِزَارُهَا يَبْلُغُ نِصْفَ فَخْذِهَا»
A freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Maymunah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent me to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and I saw that his bed was set apart from his wife's bed. The daughter of Mishrah was with him that day, so I asked: What is the matter with you? She said: This is what he does with me when I menstruate. She said: So I came to Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) and told her, and she sent me to him (to say): What is this that you are doing? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to touch one of us while she was menstruating, with nothing on her but her waist-wrapper reaching the middle of her thigh.
حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، مَوْلَى عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ نُدْبَةَ، مَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُبَاشِرُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارٌ يَبْلُغُ أَنْصَافَ الْفَخِذَيْنِ أَوِ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ تَحْتَجِزُهُ بِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to touch any of his wives while she was menstruating, if she had on a waist-wrapper reaching the middle of her thighs or her knees, and she had it tied around her.
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ، أَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، مَوْلَى عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ مَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَاشِرُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارٌ يَبْلُغُ أَنْصَافَ الْفَخِذَيْنِ أَوِ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ»
Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to touch any of his wives while she was menstruating, if she had on a waist-wrapper reaching the middle of her thighs or her knees."
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا عَنْبَسَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حَبِيبٌ، مَوْلَى عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ نُدْبَةَ، مَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَظَرَتْ فَإِذَا فِرَاشُهُ مُعْتَزِلٌ عَنْ فِرَاشِ امْرَأَتِهِ بِنْتِ مِشْرَحٍ، فَرَجَعَتْ إِلَى مَيْمُونَةَ فَأَخْبَرَتْهَا بِرُجُوعِ رِسَالَتِهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَتْ: وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ فِرَاشَهَا مُعْتَزِلًا عَنْ فِرَاشِهِ فَأَظُنُّ بَيْنَهُمَا هِجْرَةً، فَقَالَتْ لَهُمَا مَيْمُونَةُ: ارْجِعِي إِلَى بِنْتِ مِشْرَحٍ امْرَأَةِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَسَلِيهَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَرَجَعْتُ فَسَأَلْتُهَا، فَقَالَتْ: مَا بَيْنَنَا هِجْرَةٌ، وَلَكِنَّهُ إِذَا طَمِثْتُ عَزَلَ فِرَاشَهُ عَنْ فِرَاشِي، فَبَعَثَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ فَتَغَيَّظَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ: أَيُ عَبْدَ اللهِ أَتَرْغَبُ عَنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَاللهِ «أَنْ كَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِهِ لَتَأَزَّرُ بِثَوْبٍ مَا يَبْلُغُ أَنْصَافَ فَخْذَيْهَا، ثُمَّ يُبَاشِرُ جَسَدَهَا»
It is narrated from Nudbah, the freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that she looked and saw that his (Ibn Abbas's, may Allah be pleased with them both) bed was set apart from the bed of his wife, the daughter of Mishrah. So she returned to Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) and told her the reply to her message, then said: I saw her bed set apart from his bed, so I think there is estrangement between the two of them. Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to her: Go back to the daughter of Mishrah, the wife of Ibn Abbas, and ask her about that. (Nudbah said:) So I went back and asked her, and she said: There is no estrangement between us; rather, when I menstruate, he moves his bed away from my bed. So Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent for Abdullah (bin Abbas) (may Allah be pleased with them both), became angry with him and said: O Abdullah! Do you turn away from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? By Allah, one of his (peace and blessings be upon him) wives would have a cloth tied around her that reached the middle of her thighs, and still he (peace and blessings be upon him) would touch her body.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ثنا عَمِّي، ثنا أَبِي، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ الْأَعْرَجِ، مَوْلَى عُرْوَةَ، أَنَّ نُدْبَةَ، مَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ أَرْسَلْتَهَا إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ أُخْتِهَا - قَالَتْ: فَجِئْتُهُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ قَدْ عَزَلَ فِرَاشَهُ عَنْ فِرَاشِ امْرَأَتِهِ بِنْتِ مِشْرَحٍ، فَقَالَتْ: أَيْنَ هُوَ أَمُغَاضِبٍ هُوَ امْرَأَتَهُ؟ قِيلَ: لَا، وَلَكِنَّهَا إِذَا حَاضَتِ اعْتَزَلَهَا، قَالَتْ: فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مَيْمُونَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا كَيْفَ وَجَدْتُهُ، قَالَتْ: ادْعِيهِ لِي فَدَعَوْتُهُ لَهَا، فَقَالَتْ: أَتَرْغَبُ عَمَّا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَاللهِ «كَانَ لَيُبَاشِرُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارٌ يَبْلُغُ أَنْصَافَ الْفَخِذَيْنِ أَوِ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ»
Nudbah, the freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated that Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent her to Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who was her sister's son. She said: I came to him and saw that he had set his bed apart from the bed of his wife, the daughter of Mishrah. So I asked: Where is he? Is he angry with his wife? It was said: No; rather, when she menstruates he keeps away from her. She said: So I returned to Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) and told her how I had found him. She said: Call him to me. So I called him for her, and she said: Do you dislike what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do? By Allah, "He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to touch any of his wives while she had on a waist-wrapper reaching the middle of her thighs or her knees."
